How this isn't tampering, I don't know. My watch doesn't have 12:01 yet. The article's even dated March 11th, yet it's still the 10th.

i wouldn't be surprised if they end up with mcginest too.
but why givens would wanna go there is mind-boggling. who's he think is gonna thrown him the ball? romeo doesn't even know the answer to that. if i were a receiver i'd at least wanna have an idea who i'm gonna be working with.

So I guess that's why it's been reported all day how Sam Madison signed his 4 year deal with the Giants, or Shawn Barber the other day with the Eagles, or any other signing that's gone on lately.

They might, though I think Dallas is very possible too. Parcells seems to want to get the 96 Patriots/98 Jets back together (Bledsoe, Glenn, Keyshawn, and he had Vinny in 04). Vinatieri might be in Dallas too.

yep. they just say they signed the contract cause obviously theyre not going to back out of it, and the agents make the whole deal and all that crap.

Damnit.
I wanted Pittsburgh to sign him.
Now we are gonna have to deal with Cleveland having a decent wide receiver..

I know what you mean but I have mixed feelings about him. He could be another system player, who knows. He's decent though.

Well when we win next year, I look forward to reading your drunken thread about how you stumbled through the south side happy as hell, blurting out words and laughing eveywhere.
We pwned Super Bowl 40.

The first weird free-agency report of the night came from Cleveland, when the team's Web site reportedly signed Patriots wide receiver David Givens and Ravens punter Dave Zastudil. The only problem was it wasn't true.
Now, Given's isn't even going to visit. Givens will be in Miami Saturday and will go to the Houston Texans on Sunday. The price tag for Givens went up above where the Browns wanted to pay.
Givens' agent, Brad Blank, theorized that someone hacked into the Browns' computer, which is what accounted for the mistake.

Hahaha yeah I was pretty damn drunk last time around, except I was at home with a bunch of my friends. I was just being a dick to everyone here after we won and rubbing it in.
Man it's still hard to believe.
By the way did you check out the new DVD on the season? It's well worth it. I love it.

The Browns can be a really good team. They have the talent and coaching. They just need to develop.
It all sucks for me though cause it just makes things tougher for the Steelers.

Sam Madison, Shawn Barber and La'Roi Glover are the signings I assume you are talking about.
Here's the reason they were allowed to sign a contract before FA started:
The NFL free agent signing period started at 12:01 AM today......for free agents whose contracts had ran out.
Madison, Barber and Glover were all released by their teams, and therefore were eligible to negotiate and sign with any team they chose, no matter when free agency started.
Any other salary cap casualties (McGinest, Adams, Milloy, Runyan, etc) could have done the same.

i missed this ...this is good news. this means the pats have time to realize they need more than deion branch at the WR position and that the solution isnt out there in FA land. What the hell are they going to do at WR if they let Givens sign elsewhere? Do Pats fans really want Brian Finnera as your #2??
If he doesnt come back, I pray to go he doesnt go to Miami. Losing him to the #1 challenger in the division would be a disaster.

What? NE never lost this many important players in an offseason before. I expect McGinest, Givens, and Vinatieri to be playing elsewhere in 06.

wouldnt count on McGinest leaving. The other 2 though are far more important and are likely to be gone. I don't know where they are going spend the money, but these guys haven't let us down yet so I'm sure there is a plan in place. Otherwise they'd just pay these guys and take the easy way out, since they have the cash.
