As for the remake, it could go either way. The leaked script was okay but had some glaring flaws.

Thanks. I'm glad Giant Bomb is doing the run, but I still think playing through the full experience is the best anyone can get. Stayed up for four days straight to beat the shit out of it.

I also don't get the adoration Freddy gets. He was a child molester, and a murderer. Wes Craven has also stated his confusion towards this.

What exactly is the plot including spoilers and whatnot? Is a combination of different sequels or is it an entirely new story?

Also how do they explain the kids having the internet but not knowing about Freddy's existence?

I'll have to re-read the script and get back to you. But from what I remember:

It's not a combination of the different sequels, but not entirely a new story. The four kids from the original are all there (only Nancy keeps her name), with another kid named Dean who is pre-credit fodder for Freddy. Tina is renamed Kris, and the script follows her for about 20 pages to set up the Freddy character and establish some dream sequences (including one in a high school class room) before Freddy plays skin the cat with her before jumping to Nancy.

From then it's kind of like the original, though missing the most vital aspect that made the first one so good: the conflict between Nancy, her mother, and her father. It's just not there. In fact, I don't even think Nancy's father even appears in the script at all. And while the script does do some things dealing with the parents of the kids, even showing flashbacks through dream scenes to what happened, but it doesn't pay off.

In fact, the entire thing is set up like a mystery but anyone who has seen the previous films knows how it's going to play out. Freddy here is shown as a misunderstood caretaker of a school, where he gets along with the children before being accused of molestation. It's a weird attempt to try to get us to care about the character even we find out that, of course, he's still the sick, muderous bastard that we knew anyway.

As for the internet, I don't even want to get in to it. There is a scene where they watch an old classmate being murdered by Freddy on his video blog, and it was bad enough that I heard they took it out of the script completely.

I will say one thing, and that is this: I liked how they play the kids fighting to stay awake. It's the strongest part of the script, with the two remaining survivors fighting to stay awake while their brains try to shut down from the lack of sleep. It makes more sense than they could just drink a shitload of coffee and stay awake for an extended period, even though the coffee does play a part in the script.

There is also a shout-out to Jason Voorhees, in hopes of trying to connect the two franchises.

It's an average script that hopefully went through a lot of work before they began to film it. If anyone is interested in reading it, hit me up and I'll upload the script to RapidShare.

What are some of the kills? I really don't see them topping Tina and Depp's deaths.

They are crap. Utter crap. Forget about mentioning them. The highlights are the nightmares themselves, not the pathetic kills.

One guy gets his shirt ripped with four slashes across the chest before falling, you got another skin-the-cat death, another guy gets sliced along the abdomen and dies, a guy who is taping himself sleeping is killed, and another guy gets spiders that bite him to death but he's saved, only to die as a surprise kill at the end.

Very fucking lame.
