View Full Version : Iran
In my opinion the negotiations between the EU3, Russia and Iran are really starting to look like that of the Clinton Adminstation's foreign policy toward North Korea, which was primarily appeasement, and we know how well that worked out. Iran seems to be following the same path as North Korea because it works.
Would Economic sanctions put enough pressure on Iran?
Do you believe it is time for the United States and the UN to consider military action?
If so what kind of military action?
Should the Iranian regime be overthrown?
What course of action do you think the United States and the UN should take?
Leave em be. I know they won't, but whatever.

i think leave them alone. the iranian pres is enjoying the spotlight. if he has nothing to hide, he should, technically allow UN nuclear mediators to say hello. but he wont allow it. seems fishy. a little to obviously actually...
The Pres. would look completely foolish to his people if he let the UN in now, he's been telling them no forever.

We need to do something. They said if we bring the U.N. into Iran that all hell will break loose and the U.S will have harm and pain inflicted to them by Iran. Iran seems to be hiding something more then nuclear bombs. They admitted how many they have but I think there is more to this that the government isn't releasing.

Before military action you exhaust everything else, so sanctions would be the 1st step. If Iran wants to cut oil if they're referred to the UN let them. I'd rather pay 3 or 4 dollars a gallon for oil then to have them dictating our actions in response to their nuclear program by holding oil over our heads.
I also wouldnt mind seeing Israel take actions.

I dont see how you can support simply leavign someone like Iran alone and allowing them to not only get nuclear weapons, but make a mochary of all sorts of arms agreements?
I thought about the US trying to impose economic sanctions but china and russia might not be all that ready to comply since they do alot of business with Iran. The Britts say they do not want to resort to means of military solutions and still tend to think negotiations can pressure the Iranians into giving up their nuclear research and allowing for inspections.
By the time we know it, Iran is going to have the bomb (if they don't already).

i think if china and russia were to veto anything Israel would take action themselves or with other allies
If Isreal took the initiative and I think that would be a good idea, this would give the US a legit reason for entering in on the situation, which is aiding Isreal. Where Europe stands I don't know, probably will offer both sides fuel to cease fire (joke).

terrible idea.
if israel is the one to initiate action then all the arab countries will likely get involved because this is a chance to knock out Israel. it could start a huge world war and that is somerthing we definitely do not want. also...if by the chance iran does have a nuke. if they are fighting the us they cannot use a nuke on us soil...but if its irael they could easily hit israel and do catastrophic damage.
If the the US could convince Europe to form a coalition then perhaps that could discourage other Arab nations from also striking Isreal. (if in-fact Isreal did make the first move)
but then again we don't know if Iran already has a nuke

If anyone ever used only one nuke on us, we'd put them back into the ice age. The Israel thing however . . .
