i'd assume something different, since espn and ea are combining forces next year into one game. and since madden's on nbc, i'm curious what that does to the name of the best sports franchise ever.

i'll buy it regardless though. bought it every year since it came out for whatever system i had.

I heard it on ESPN Radio. It could be wrong though because I looked it up and one site says Larry Johnson is going to be on it, one says Clinton Portis, and one says Ladanian Tomlinson. So now I don't know who's going to be on it. I was going based on what I heard on the radio. Maybe it's Shaun Alexander? I dunno..I don't think it's been announced yet, but it's going to be announced soon.

usually they have a guy who led the league in some sort of stats or won the super bowl. i dont care though madden always puts out a good game and I just got my copy of this year's and it is gold. the little stuff they add every year really make me happy. I always think what could they possibly do to make it better and then they do. It is however kind of hard to have a hit stick while using a pc keyboard. when I saw all the free agent moves I said to my friend I can't wait for madden this year. haha.

because ea has the rights to the nfl. so espn can't put a game out using the nfl and it's players. so they combined to make one game. should be pretty kickass.

I dont think ESPN really has a games section. They just sign over the rights to use logos and such in games. The 2k series held the rights to ESPN until 2005 I do believe. I could be wrong.

Not really, ESPN games have been a lot better than EA recently.

EA has always made madden. madden was always good, up until about 1996.

Sega Sports bought the exclusive rights to the ESPN name to use for game, which they used for their 2k4 and 2k5 games. Sega Sports than was bought out by take2 interactive (this may have happened before 2k5 came out, i forgot) anyway, now Take 2 had the ESPN license.

then EA decided, fuck competition and having to do anything to madden other than making roster updates, lets just buy the NFL license and make it so Take 2 cant make an NFL game. so thats what happened. Then EA bought the ESPN license away from take2.

in a related story, take2 launched a counter offensive to this by purchasing exclusive MLB rights, which is why the only good game EA has made in about 10 years (MVP 2004 and then its much better predocessor MVP 2005) is no longer coming out. MLB 2006: the show is allowed to come out, but only on playstation2. in theory, EA could put out MVP 2006 but only for one gaming platform, so they decided not to put out an MLB game, instead going with NCAA Baseball 06 and gay metal bats.

Not really, ESPN games have been a lot better than EA recently.

The only one I liked was ESPN Football, it was like 20 bucks and really really good.

Presentation and graphics wise they were (though not animations, ESPN had a lot of choppy shit), but Madden has better gameplay, and is the deeper game.
