You think anything will happen? Do you think our days are numbered?
I think something big is going to happen. If not the apocolypse, than something that will definitely set the world back a couple centuries.

Not sure what is supposed to happen. A lot of religions say its the end of the world. The Mayan calendar stops at 2012. There are a lot of theories on what will happen. I think something might. With all of this tension in the middle east, the weather acting all of fucked up, natural disasters left and right. I feel like its building to something.
Just type 2012 in any search engine and you'll find some cool shit. My favorite is that the 12th planet, Nibiru will return. You'd think if a planet was coming into our orbit we'd see it right? Sitchin is pretty out there guy. Not as out there as David Icke. He's fucking nuts.

I find it hard to believe a planet the size of Jupiter can travel at such a great speed, it would be here in six years.
I've spent days being depressed as hell about this. I don't know why it scares me so much, I guess I really am just "afraid of death".

I'm not really too afraid. Its a pretty exciting time to live. Who knows what will happen, if anything at all. You have to answer this question, do we really know the EXACT year we're in?

who cares
I do and so does a lot of other people. There are people that care so much, they write 500+ page books on the subject.
who caresI care..I might not have posted anything of importance in this thread, but I do care.

Well, if you think of it that way, 2012 passed a long time ago.

according to other calenders...I think this date was "translated" to the Christian calender. So in other calenders it'd be 5000 whatever, other ones...1452...

It very well could have. Its more fun to think its coming soon though and that something will happen. If nothing does, whatever. I guess that would be for the best.

Just run a search on the year and read for yourself. There are a lot of interesting and logical ideas given with legit evidence supporting.
Like how the world woud end in 2000? But it didn't..

The basis off that didn't have much to it. According the Jahova's Witnesses, the wolrd was supposed to end in 1940 something? I'm not to clear on the details but my friend is one and he says they believe they world did end in some metaphorical way.
So even though there are a lot of things going on now that could lead to something big in 2012, you believe nothing will happen?
Haha no, I'm not superstitious really. Nothing will happen in 2012, although I'm sure people will get worked up over it. It's all just myth.

So the Mayans just said "Hey, we'll stop are calander here. Just for shits and giggles."
You don't think that weather have been getting more random and violent over the past four years or so?
Or how about all of this tension in the middle east with nuclear weapons?
Its all getting worse and I think by the time 2012 hits, its going to hit rock bottom.
I don't believe once midnight strikes, everything will just blow up. I think its just gradually going down the shitter.

1 - You can't live your life based on reasoning from centuries ago. People were much more spiritual back then, and surely explained lots of things in now obscure ways.
2 - Firstly the earth goes through natural climatic cylces, and we are set for a transition very soon. Secondly we (more so the US) have been polluting the atmosphere and thus increasing this rate of change. If you want I can go into more detail on 'global warming', which may very much so end up to be global cooling and a second 'ice-age' within the next decade, but I won't bore you with that if it is not neccessary. It is a great interest of mine. It is not 'random' so to speak.
3 - This is not tension. The Cold War was tension. Anyways a nuclear attack would not end the world at all. In Switzerland by law we all have nuclear bomb shelters either in our houses, schools (the ones in school are of great expanse equiped with facillities for thousands to live for months on end) or community. Plus we have air-raid/nuclear attack warning systems and alarms which can be heard from any point in the country (they get tested anually, it's pretty cool). So yeah, I'd be fine in a nuclear attack, don't know about you, haha.
4 - Don't be so pessimistic my friend.

I do not believe these people were idiots. There a lot of theory out there about them being more technologically advanced than we are now. But, its all just theory. When it comes to history, that is all we have. We have to have faith in the evidences we find because without this faith we have no idea what are past is. I can go on about this for hours..
So you believe we're heading into a second ice age? What if this really happened around the year of 2012?
You don't believe there is tension in the middle east? We don't know if Iran has any nuclear weapons and if they do, they're more than likely going to blow away isreal. Do you know what that would do. That would cause a war beyond any war that has happened in centuries. Complete chaos.
Like I said, the world may not end (unfortunately) in 2012 but I think something HUGE is going to happen around that time frame.

No they were not more 'technologically advanced' than we are now. I think we can be certain of that, unless you want to delve into concepts of acient alien civilizations that left our planet thousands of years ago without trace, which is interesting, but not really any kind of solid argument.
Yes it is quite feasible that the world could be plunged into an indeterminaly long cold spell. If the Gulf Stream turns off (as it has already been weakening over the last few years) then we will see a sceanario similar to that in The Day After Tomorrow. That movie was bassed on pretty much pure factual information (if you have the dvd with the bonus stuff, watch it) but just condensed into a much shorter time. That situation could very likely occur within the next 10 years. Scary eh? But not the end of the world in any way, we would just have to adapt to colder living, like many communities currently do.
I didn't say there was no tension in the Middle East, just that nothing substaintial is likely to happen. Nothing at all like previous wars, such was World War 2 for example. Nothing to that extent. I'm not that worried about a nuclear war at the moment for reasons previously mentioned.
Haha, why do you say 'unfortunatly'? Do you want the world to end?

Like I said before, all of our history is theory. The alien stuff is interesting and very well may have happened but again, its all theory.
So if its possible that we could be under a cold spell within the next 10 years, then you have to believe something about the year 2012 is significant.
You said it wasn't tension? If Isreal is nuked, say hello to WWIII. For a place with so much religious meaning and history to be destroyed, would be disastrous. There was a huge discussion about it in the political forums.
For all of these factors to start worsening as 2012 gets closer seems pretty damn coincidental. We'll see what happened in the next three years. We'll see if the world is in a worse state than its in.
Oh and yes I do want the world to end. But if it doesn't, that is fine to. I have no doubt in my mind that there is something significant about that timeframe though. Something will change the world.
