String Quartet out of Los Angeles, CA using mostly violins and violas, and no voices.
They take mainwave and indie albums and play them as an orchestra. Really cool.
My favorite album they have released so far has been The String Quartet Tribute To The Mars Volta.

love them. i have about 20 of their recordings. and want more. they have SOOOOO much on itunes. but i feel like if they can make all of those covers, its too easy, and they dont deserve the money. so i just download all of theirt stuff off limewire and watnot. do they tour at all? id def pay money to see them.

I don't think that it's too easy, but it is definitely easier than writing the original song. The reason they sound so appealing is because they are the songs that your favorite artists wrote, interpreted as an orchestra piece. Still isn't very easy at all, it takes a lot of diverse talent to make them sound the way they do. And I would also love to know if they ever do tours. Would pay.

Haha, they're playing a few dates in Portland in September, and I'm attempting to get the tickets for my birthday in a week and a half. I think the odds are in my favor at the moment.

I only get to go to a few shows a year, and haven't been to once since last fall. I'd really like to see Modest Mouse though. I am so very sorry you had to see Nevershoutnever. I had to see From First To Last a few years ago, if it makes you feel any better. They were shirtless and had duct tape x's over their nipples.
