After some discussion between Jason, Scott, and I, we've retooled the Self Promotion forum. If you are in a band and want any AP staffer to check your band out, head on over there (http://www.absolutepunk.net/forumdisplay.php?f=5), read the rules, and start introducing us to your band. We're using it so you can make us aware of your band, get the word out, and allow AP users to listen as well. Instead of just sending us a link privately, this allows everyone to comment on it, and gives the entire staff a chance to offer their thoughts. If we're interested in a review or plan to use your band as a recommendation, we'll definitely be in touch. Please note any street team posts will be deleted and the user will be banned.

That's why there's rules. If you break the rules, I lay the smackdown.

That's really awesome. I was hoping you guys would do something like that sometime soon. Once my band records new stuff I'll definetly be using that feature.

Hopefully this will curb the mass-message IMs bands send me...that is not an effective way to get people to listen to your music, btw.

Is it the very best quality with the best mixing you could do and the best songs?" I hate when people are like, "Oh, this is an old mix of the song. We don't sound like that anymore."

Yeah that's why I'm waiting till we record again. I could see why people do that though, sometimes to you it sounds so good either way, cause it's yours and most of the time, as simple as the songs can be you put a lot of effort into it. I know i show people stuff that isnt a done a lot, but when it gets to this level, you have to wait, as hard as it may be.

It's more if they have new songs they're working on that they want me to listen to. I don't think that demos are a great introduction to a band though; but that's just a personal preference.
