Great trilogies come in threes. The task is simple. I'm going to list the top 10 Movie Trilogies of all time, according to RopeOfSilicon.com (so this isn't my opinion.) and you vote on your favorite out of the 10 given.

There are some movie series that have shitty fourth movies, or for nostalgic reasons, remain as trilogies in our minds no matter how many movies are in the series. (i.e. Rambo, Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, Alien, Shrek, Jaws Final Destination, and Indiana Jones) I'm not gonna include these.
I am aware there is a few of them that you might not have heard of/don't think belong on the list. I'm just going off what this site says.

Without further ado, here we go.

Are we talking Star Wars 1-3 or 4-6.

I gotta say Star Wars, I love Godfather it is my all time favourite movie but the 3rd one and 2nd just didn't bring "it".

07/26/09, 04:50 PM
The "original" Star Wars. Sorry.

VIVALAMATT
07/26/09, 05:26 PM
Star Wars, assuming you're talking about 4, 5 and 6. Anywho yeah. LOTR is the only other that comes close.

If you never heard of Internal Affairs you need to check them out. The first one is the film that was remade by Scorsese as The Departed.

that is unbelievably accurate!!! the only ones that dont really match what i reckon are, i rated Jurassic Park 1 &2 about double that size and liked Jaws 2 more than 1, also dont like Stars Wars, but obviously thats my own opinion as millions would disagree with me

star wars. come on

The original Star Wars practically invented the movie trilogy.

Lord of the Rings just re-defined it. both are great but have to pay credit where it's due, Star Wars.

07/29/09, 10:03 AM
Pirates is not a triology because they're making a fourth one. Star Wars is not a triology either. Dollars Triology is the correct answer, but thanks for playing everyone.

LOTR is the better TRILOGY AS A WHOLE it's as if its one movie beginning/middle/end.

But I voted Back To The Future cause BTTTF Pt.2 is my all time favorite movie.

07/30/09, 04:51 PM
LOTR for sure.
Grew up on Star Wars, but I was never all that into it..
And I'm a huge Pirates fan, so that would be my second pick.

The Matrix is my favorite out of those movies. Really cool blend of action and weird technology.

Clark
07/31/09, 01:34 AM
The Matrix is my favorite film out of those, but as a trilogy it's pretty weak. I voted Star Wars, easily.

Pretty damn accurate. Except on Die Hard two should be a lot lower and three a little higher.

I said Back to the Future only because you didnt include so many trilogies because of the "4th" movie thing and star wars had the huge shitty prequel trilogy so it shouldn't be on the list. That and back to the future was awesome.

Read my original post. That should help you understand.

I posted there somewhere that Star Wars meant the original 3 Star Wars a.k.a. the good 3.

theres only one trilogy and thats star wars

as the dude in clerks 2 said 'Lord of the rings is 3 movies about gay hobbits walking' and the main dude is such a whiny bitch

The Godfather for sure. Notable is Bourne and Pirates.

It was Star Wars for a long time until LotR came out. That trilogy is a masterpiece.

I'm kind of upset with the lack of votes for the Man With No Name trilogy. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly is easily one of the best movies of all time.

I would say star wars, the godfather, lord of the rings, back to the future, then Pirates of the carribbean are my top 5

Honestly, deciding between Star Wars and LotR is probably the hardest decision I've ever had to make. Reminds me of the argument in Clerks II. Classic. It's extremely close, but I would probably have to say LotR simply because the movies were so well done and very faithful to the books. Return of the King was beautiful. I wept. I love Star Wars to death, but it never moved me quite like LotR did.

This was hard, for me it was between Back to the Future and The Godfather. Had to go with Back to the Future. Godfather 3 was so bad, I'm not counting it as a trilogy.
