Female fronted rock bands that play aggressive, sincere and memorable music are rather rare these days. It is with this fact in mind that the members of Portland, Oregon's Leaving the Scene have risen to the occasion and brought such music to people everywhere. With its mix of soaring vocals over intense, high-energy melodies, Leaving the Scene have established themselves as a forerunner in the establishment of Portland's unique, ever-growing music scene.
Comprised of singer Rayn McMahon, guitarists Jamie Dunphy and Jason Morris, bassist Casey Wilson, and drummer Dave Muldoon, this quintet have been establishing a name for themselves for just over two years now. Their unique style of rock is perfected in their most recent album. After two smaller releases, their debut full-length, Daytona Doe, was recorded and released in early 2004 on First Fall Records. In support of this release, the band left Portland for their first West Coast tour, a three-week blitz from Portland to Olympia, Washington, down to Los Angeles, California. After being surprised by actually turning a profit from their first tour, in addition to the more than enthusiastic welcoming in every city they stopped in, the band has continued to play more and more shows outside of their home city limits.
As of today the band has completed two full tours, gotten attention from fans near and far, has continued writing and recording better and better music, is featured on over 20 radio stations across the United States, and recently completed their thirty-date July tour, including three stops on this summers Warped Tour. The bands energetic live performances and multifaceted style has allowed them to share the stage with such acts as Piebald, Hot Rod Circuit, Kaddisfly, Ever We Fall, As Cities Burn, Clarity Process, The Fall of Troy, mewithoutYou, Veda, Aiden, theAUDITION, The Hurt Process, Amity, and Amber Pacific. In November of 2004, the band appeared on the compilation The West Coast Drama Vol. 1 from Hey Sherman! Productions, featuring bands such as Nevea Tears, Tragedy Andy, and Yellowcard.

When asked about their plans for the future, every band member answers the same. "This is something worth dedicating our entire lives to," says Casey Wilson, "Something to leave school, jobs, and everything else behind and dive headfirst into. I want to be able to look back with no regrets." "We've already dedicated so much of our lives to this band," adds Jamie Dunphy, "I can't imagine not creating music with this group of amazing people. We're like family. I would gladly live everyday of the rest of my life in a van with them."

Expect to see them cruising into a town near you in their majestic white van, The Dartanian.
