I know a bunch of you are worried about the new Less Than Jake album. Well, it came in the mail today and I just finished listening to it (during a small lull in bball). I love it and am not let down at all. I think fans will not be as "upset" as the first "leaked" tracks imply. Tracklisting is below, review coming soon.
1) Soundtrack Of My Life
2) A Still Life Franchise
3) Overrated
4) Fall Apart
5) In-dependence Day
6) Don't Fall Asleep On The Subway
7) Land Mines and Landslides
8) The Rest of My Life
9) Mostly Memories
10) Let Her Go
11) Hopeless Case
12) PS Shock The World

I found the new album to be lackluster.

does it sound anything like the last album?
if so, i will be upset.
LTJ needs to sack up like STD and return to the old school form.
btw, remember when LTJ had a horn section?

Am I doing the review, Jason? I'm definitely up for it. I'm finishing Damiera up tonight and then I can get started on LTJ.

Doesn't really sound like it and if you are looking for them to go back to their roots on this album they don't.

There are some really great songs on there and a couple that aren't amazing. There are two or three (I'll update later when I get back to my stereo after dinner) songs that make heavy use of horns.
The 7-8-9-10 punch on the album is great. I also really enjoy "Fall Apart" and "PS Shock the World."
Yes, guys. They went a little more "rock." But they wrote some great songs that show an advancement in their maturity both lyrically and musically. It takes elements from all of their past albums from Hello Rockview (I suppose the horn songs actually draw some from Pezcore/Losing Streak-era) all the way up to Anthem. It's well-produced but not overproduced.

The label told Jared to wait, and not post it yet. I dunno....

I liked Anthem alot. Im sure this will be a great summer CD.
I heard this at work earlier, I dunno... it's definitely gone downhill, it's worse than Anthem in my opinion...

You don't want Tate to review it. We'll just have to wait for Jared.

How so? It's a mix of B&B and HR imo.

How so? It's a mix of B&B and HR imo.Definitely. It seems to me that these songs have LTJ a little bit jaded. Like they've gotten what they set out to get as musicians, the rest is just gravy. They seem concerned with whether they've done everything they could in getting here to be good people and live good lives. At least that's what I get out of the album thematically so far (5-6 listens). It's not so much about the past and how they got there, but more about now that they're here, what will they do?
I really like it so far.

*Waits impatiently to see them live April 6th *I've only seen them live twice, but I wouldn't hesitate to pay to see them live another ten times. So much energy, so much fun.

good to know i'm not the only one that thought the first batch or released songs were so so... although i still have faith in LTJ and believe this album will be great like all the rest.

Overrated is definetely worse. She's Gonna Break Soon is pretty bad though.

This band is awesome and can do no wrong in my eyes. I think "Rest of My Life" is a killer tune for any band to write.
