Well, I concede that I was wrong about the lyrics (though not about how fucking pretentious you are), and I am very glad our relationship didn't dead end at that dumbass impasse. Now, though, we've actually got a substantive rapport, I'd say, and a damn awesome one at that. Even if I disagree with you, your personal faith is inspiring to me, and I have immense respect for your finding God the way you did. You're also a great poet, a great writer, and a clever bastard. I love reading your blog—thedecomposedblog.wordpress.co m—and laughing as I recall how you once thought I was more pretentious than YOU are…though it's true. We are two crazily pretentious bastards, and our shenanigans are something without which AbsolutePunk simply wouldn't be as enjoyable. I look forward to our future spreadings of nay nay as the new Say Anything comes out and we tell the truth about it while everyone else lets Max pee on their faces, at least in that thread. My lovely wedded e-wife from the Brand New forum. Building a faux family (complete with a nanny and a family dog…both of the same name!) was great fun, but in all seriousness, it was also the exact sort of thing I needed to cheer me up/take my mind off of my cataclysmically failing IRL relationship. At the same time, though, your Canadianness and the 3-hour time difference shenanigans are probably in part responsible for my dramatic loss of sleep, so I don't even know why I should thank you…except for the excellent music recommendations, scintillating conversation, and general awesomeness. You are possessed of the sort of dry wit I find inherently appealing, and I always love reading your posts, be they clever one-liners or paragraphs of sheer pwn. You also have intelligent, thoughtful, well-expressed opinions about music, and though you may think you're not, you're quite intellectual about what you like and why, which is awesome. But seriously, you're great. And I appreciate more than anything else the occasional reality checks you provide when Ryan and my bro-love ego wankery gets out of control. Thank you.

Max (Maxdaulerio)—Our shenanigrundles are the shenanigrundliest of them all. I appreciate the constant ESPing and all our craziness immensely. This was as long as Ryan's paragraph until you uttered your fallacious Untitled 5 statement. Of course, I could be lying. The shenanigans are, as always, in the details.

Justin: this probably comes as a surprise considering how, er, fractious our interactions have always been. But I have to thank you because when I see you post, I can be sure of at least one thing: you aren't going to bite your tongue. You say stupid shit sometimes, but I always know you're being completely honest. That kind of honesty is admirable, even if I disagree with you sometimes.

THE GOD THREAD:

Talk about insanities. This thread drove me nuts, and I wrote more essays (and probably posted more) in here than I did when I argued with togepi. That said, it was great. I love the discussion, I love the degree of knowledge required to participate, and I love the fact that I've actually made friends so adamantly defending my beliefs. Specifically:

GeeBee—we went from hating each other to not caring about each other to hating each other to basically being internet best friends. You can be a little bit of an ass sometimes, but since when have I not been an ass? I enjoyed our old debates, enjoy our current blithe banter, and thank you sincerely for not only taking the time to articulate yourself but also for reading what I had to write and engaging in what was probably the most productive of the conversations I had in that thread. I learned a lot about myself and about your particular worldview in our extensive conversations, and I respect you all the more for it. Even if you're a silly sod for not liking Bob Dylan, debating with you was some of the best time I spent on AP. Here's to intellectual understanding and respect and being the rightest wrong person I've ever encountered.

The rest of the God thread deserves a nod: I love the regulars there. PlayRadioPlay, vodyanoj, Love As Arson, perceptrons, and peder458 were all pleasures to debate with, and another shout-out to seansmydoctor for his and my reconciliation after our rather shaky start in terms of interaction.

THE POETRY FORUM:

I love this place, and I love writing. There's a great little community of writers there who are supportive, helpful, and friendly…oh, and talented too.

Kevin (fishingthe_sky)—Ah, Kevin. Where can I begin? You're not only an absolutely fucking fantastic writer and keen, insightful critic, but you're also a really, really smart, nice, friendly dude. You've given me amazing advice on my writing and about life, and even if you won't admit that The Matches are better than Moneen, you're still wonderful. I can't thank you enough for helping me along in my artistic development and such. Ah, but this is going to turn into hyperbole if I don't stop. So…thanks, Kevin. Keep being awesome. I think its a pretty good album. Once you get past the "Pinkerton>Blue" part, though, everything is basically interchangable. It just depends on how you judge the album.
