Hey all. My 12-year-old brother wants an electric guitar with amp and other beginner stuff (maybe some picks, etc. although all he really needs is an amp). I know a ton of package deals like this exist for like $100 so do you have any for me? All the ones I can find are like $150+. It doesn't have to be a great guitar...hell, it doesn't even have to be good. Just playable. He's not going to critique it or anything.

Thanks.

Do you have a guitar center where you live?

You can just go there and ask if they have any of those guitar starter packs(they usually come with a guitar, amp(shitty but good enough),picks, strap, tuner, etc.) theyre usually sold for $150-$200.

EDIT:I found the packs I was talking about

Fender:http://www.guitarcenter.com/Fender-Starcaster-Strat-Rock-Band-Electric-Guitar-Value-Pack-501903-i1447124.gc

Dean:http://www.guitarcenter.com/Dean-Evo-XM-Electric-Guitar-Pack-620087-i1452632.gc

Epiphone:http://www.guitarcenter.com/Epiphone-SG-Special-Electric-Guitar-Player-Pack-102920451-i1150173.gc

There are more but they just get more expensive.

Is there anything maybe even less? That's a little out of our price range. I'm thinking $130 or less?

there used to be a $100 deal at music123.com

i think it was "Baja" brand, came with a strat type guitar, 10w amp, etc. It was actually not too bad, the guitar itself was close to a squier and the gain on the amp was insane.

If it was there, it's not there anymore. =/ Bummer. Thanks though.

Some nice deals there. Are you sure this site is legit? Like, have you purchased there before? Because it kind of looks like a spam site.

The Rondo stuff is 100% legit. Their higher end models are great options for low cost, but relative high quality guitars. If you cruise over to thegearpage.net and ask on the "guitars in general" forum, Rondo has a VERY loyal following! Great bang for the buck.

absolutely go with a Rondo guitar. i've purchased 3 from Kurt, and plan on ordering another, tonight, actually.

SX's are pretty cheap, and have decent resale value. I bought an SST57 in daphne blue for about $110, played the crap out of it for 2 years, and sold it for $75.

The Agile LP clones are awesome, I'm buying a tobacco finish AL-3000 tonight, but if you're looking for cheap, an SX will work fine.

If you are looking for a bit of a step up, check out Guitar Fetish (not sure on URL, google it). I've heard a lot of positive things about the Xaviere line, but they cost around $150.

Rondo is fantastic. Definitely legit and safe. If there's a problem, Kurt has great customer service too, apparently. I've never read a bad thing about them! Even when there's been problems with guitars being damaged (not often), Kurt has been quick about getting them a new one.

Also, the guitars people return are put on the b-stock list. You can sometimes find a $400 Agile on there for less than $200, depending on the damage (usually minor finish flaws).

Overise, what have you picked up from rondo?
