I would say so. Despite Blink 182's defeat over Brand New in the "AP.Net's favorite band" poll, there's still plenty of Blink haters on this website. Trust me, I was on that poll every minute and was reading practically everyone's opinion. Yes Blink is overrated on this site, but not more so than Brand New. Brand New could release an album of Jesse Lacey farting and they'd still get worshiped for it. Blink doesn't get that sort of worship, their popularity is just spawned from the fact that they recently reunited.

i may have this wrong (i'm not that old of a member), but didn't AP.net start out because of blink? there's no denying that their reunion caused a lot of hype, but maybe there's more to it than that?

Oh, without a doubt. Excuse me if I came off as saying their popularity is only because they reunited. Of course they were popular before then, but it all exploded after they reunited. They're one of my favorite bands, I do realize they're pretty popular. But when they got back together, everyone started saying they were one of the greatest bands ever, etc. So yeah...

No. There is so so so so many more bands that are better musically (Fall of Troy, ETID) and lyrically (Say Anything).
It's disgusting....especially because it was from their worst album (Devil) and not their best (Deja)
They're a good band, but people need to realize Jesse is not Jesus reincarnated. It gets annoying at times.

If you mean are they overrated by AP as a whole than yes but not as much as Blink -182 in comparison. When Blink record something half as good as The Devil and God let me know (and i don't even love TDAD all that much).

No. They don't. They make pretty good music, but accordng to almost everyone on here, they can do absolutely nothing wrong and are gods. Maybe they're just not my cup of tea, but the obsession is odd to me.

I have always really liked Brand New since i first heard them, but i think the attention they get here is a little nuts. Jason Tate obviously really likes them, so it's kinda hard to avoid all the hype. At the same time, i can kinda see where some of it comes from. Brand New was a big band for most of the users on this site when it first started and began to grow, so it's one of those bands that the site was kinda based around almost. But all things considered, it's absolutepunk.net, not absolutebrandnew

I personally find Brand New to be my favorite band bar-none.
Now having said that, I wasn't a fan of theirs untill The Devil and God came out. With that album, Brand New showed their true creative talent and incredible lyricism. Granted a lot of that album is very simple and repetitive, the sheer POWER of that album just blows me away. Both the dark lyrics, ambient guitars, and Brian Lane bashing the shit out of the drums lol. But if I wanted to talk about their albums I'd write a review.

Simply, yes. If they've gotten themselves to a point where people WANT to hear what they're up to, they deserve it.
i didn't even know about Brand New until I joined AP.net. I don't get the fascination with them. I've listened to them, and I'm not impressed.

Jesse himself admits to being a terrible guitarist
and when I say nothing spectacular I mean each of them individually, if you stripped a song down to a single track at a time there wouldn't be anything mind blowing
there are better guitarists and vocalists and drummers and bassists out there
I'm not saying their bad because they aren't but they aren't spectacular
that being said, I think they are going to step it up on Daisy with the layers of effects that you get a taste of on "At The Bottom"
Wow 50/50 split. I like Brand New but the hype keeps ruining their music for me, Daisy should be good though.
