Did not find a thread for this legend with the search function, which could be because the search function is down or because it was a Ben thread that got deleted. Either way appreciate.

How did I ever miss this thread? Guess that happens when you don't visit often enough. But anyway, since pretty much most people here have a music collection that is essentially branches of rock music, this site, & music fans everywhere, owe Chuck a whole lot of respect & praise.
Berry has had such a significant impact upon all music since his hey-day. His music & writing style fundamentally lay down the blueprint for the majority who followed him, by his complete development of early rock n roll guitar techniques. But not only in terms of playing the guitar, but also the way he pushed the electric guitar as the primary "drive" in his music, a propulsive rhythm for which he could layer his (self written, unlike many others at the time) lyrics, & even used equally rhythmic lead parts to echo & emphasize his own vocals. It was Chuck who predominantly led to the guitar becoming the forefront of much of Western music. He's a musical pioneer in every sense of the word.

I can honestly say I've only ever heard "Johnny B. Goode" and "Maybelline" but I like a ton of hsi songs as covered by other artists. Especially The Beatles. He's a defininte "must listen soon" though.
Chuck Berry is on top is one of my favourite albums out there.

I think it's his best work too. Not sure what the album cover is about though haha.

My dad has that record. I always thought it was a funny joke. It's a sundae with berries (Berry's?) on top, right?

Some rather imperfect looking strawberries if I'm remembering right (which probably isn't the case haha). But I'd say you're right mate, can't believe I never put that together myself haha. The music on the album is incredible, but it's not even a particularly nice looking sundae, or background, on the cover, it's madness!

THIS.
I mean, a lot of people are fans of The Rolling Stones and the Beatles (myself included)...and with good reason. Look at the artists who inspired them. The Rolling Stones are actually named after a song by Muddy Waters (an artist popular during the same era as Chuck Berry), but I'm pretty sure a good handful of people don't know that.

Hands down one of the most important figures in rock history.
