any help on miking an acoustic for live shows?

i was thinking maybe a shure sm57, i know that's mostly for drums and recording but i've always loved the mic. I need to compete with a marshall 200ish watt half stack. thanks

Since you're competing with a band, and an electric guitar w/ half-stack (dumb, but I won't get into that), I'd get a pick-up for your guitar, and run the sound direct through the soundboard, so the sound guy can control your levels.
