Below you'll find what a fan had to say about last night's MxPx (http://www.mxpx.com) show in Chicago.
I just got home from the MxPx show in Chicago. It was a great show for what it was even with hardly any promotion for it -- mainly just seeing it listed on the band and club's websites. Transition (http://www.myspace.com/transition) and Treaty of Paris (http://www.myspace.com/treatyofparis) were on the bill as well.

Transition did a good set and surprised me with their sound. Their vocalist is a very well-rounded vocalist and I believe this band will grow in the future, with their new album coming out soon that was produced by none other than Mike from MxPx himself.

Treaty of Paris was the Chicago favorite as they are a local band. I didn't seem too impressed by this band, but what they presented to the crowd was decent and enjoyable to some. They had energy throughout the whole set as well.

Then it was time for MxPx to get on stage. MxPx is always a great band to see no matter how many times you have seen them or how long you've been a fan; you will always walk away with a huge smile on your face and know you just got rocked off to the extent of amazement. They played a very big mix of songs, including songs that I have never seen played live before. The reason for this is because quarter of the way through their hour plus set, they took requests from the crowd. Some of the requests included: "Doing Time," "Christalena," "Move To Bremerton," "Today Is In My Way," "The Final Slow Dance." Altogether, the show was very good for having it be such a random tour. So, if you get a chance to attend this in the next week before they head to South America, Europe and Japan, make sure that you do. You won't be disappointed.

The rest of the set went as follows in this order:

Responsibility
Heard that sound
Well Adjusted
Tomorrow is Another Day
Let It Happen
Doing Time
Move to Bremerton
Today is in My Way
The Final Slow Dance
Wrecking Hotel Rooms
Next big Thing
Young and Depressed
Christalena
Chick Magnet
Quit Your Life (acoustic)
500 Miles
Punk Rock Show

Mxpx is one of the best bands I've ever seen live. Top 3....I guess practice makes perfect, these guys have been doing it forever.

Mxpx are the best live band I've ever seen (so far), hearing 500 Miles live is something everyone should experience once in their lives.

dammit...i've seen this band probably 10 times over the years and i've never once seen them play doing time. i love the shit out of that song.

even though they keep making shitty albums, they're still amazing live.

they played in buffalo on monday, and it was fairly boring. i think they need a crowd to bounce off of, and there was a very small one there for them. it was still a fun show.

I've seen em play that live a few times. And I wouldn't call their newer albums shitty, I'd just call them mediocre.
