Wow. I can't believe it. I had a feeling he might leave but i never thought he'd go to Indy.

I'm shocked but you gotta believe in Bill Belichick and Scot Pioli, i just pray they don't bring in Vanderjagt.

makes me sick to see that stuff happen. i wish bill simmons idea would get put into effect: a 10 million dollar cap bonus to only be used for guys with 9+ years of service to one team. it would cut down on team greats leaving and finishing their careers quietly elsewhere.

they tried saying on sportscenter last night that if Vinateri went to Green Bay that it might be enough to get Brett Favre to stay. I almost burst out laughing.

i kinda hope not. he's used to kicking indoors, and green bay has had some nasty weather games the past few seasons.

how are they doomed? they lost a few pieces but i'm not worried about it. we will probably lose a couple games because of the kicker, but they are still one of the top teams in the league.

well we have 1 wide reciever
no running game
patchwork OL
lost our #2 LB
rodney harrison may have to retire, so we may have no SS
and our cornerbacks suck balls (except asante samuel)
and now we have no kicker.

i'd say thats more than a couple pieces. i'm pretty pissed off about how this offseason is being handled by the patriots.

Offseason isnt over yet, its not even the draft yet. Last time i checked McGinnest wasnt the #2 LB; Bruschi, Vrable, Colvin were all gonna be ahead of him this year and rumor has it that they are trying to aquire Arrington. They just signed another reciever and are rumored to be interested in Keyshawn Johnson. There is still a whole lot of time before the season starts for moves to be made.

WR is an issue, no doubt, but we have 2 great TE's, one of which is as fast as a WR.
the running game is going to be fine, it was good last year and we had 6th stringers starting games.
the OL will be fine, everyone is coming back healthy and they played great last year using backups all year.
Vrabel and Colvin will be fine on the outside, Mcginest was good, but we've got talent to back him up.
Harrison has no plans to retire, he may not be 100%, but he hasn't given up yet. (Culpepper had the same injury)
our conerbacks were weak but Samuels, Gay and Hobbs are all solid
and yes we need a kicker.

i don't see how you can say we are doomed when taking all that into account plus the fact that free agency is only a week and a half old, and there is a draft coming up.

sharper fits in well on that team though, a bunch of troublemakers who run their mouths and cant do shit on the field when it comes time. i cant even count on two hands how many times hes gotten absolutely burned on a play, the reciever drops the ball, and hes celebrating. big douche.

if the packers can keep walker (highly unlikely) I think that might be enough to get favre to come back. Gardner, Driver and Walker is a pretty good recieving group, and with Gado and Green healthy, and an improving O-line, theres a potential for playoffs.

The patriots are not doomed; mikeford just sees the glass as half empty. Wait for the draft and see what they bring in. The pats have worked with a patched up secondary the past couple years and overcame many injuries to the team. Adam probably commanded to much money and by paying him it would hurt their ability to sign other players.

let the draft happen, and then complain if you still feel the need.

i'm not a pats fan, but i could see why mikeford's pissed about the offseason they're having.

2 te's are nice to have. but the whole offense is basically ran on spread sets with 4 or 5 receivers. for that kind of offense, receivers need to not be a worry spot.

there's been a lot of players sign to other teams that the pats could have used and had more than enough to pay for. they've sat idely by while other teams around them are improving. the draft helps a bit, but it's not like they have the top pick. even with a solid draft, i wouldn't say that solidifies anything.

the dolphins were only a game away from winning that division last year under a first year coach. his system is more in place now and they've improved as a team. the pats will have trouble winning that division with the team they have now.

i'd be worried too if i were a fan.

There are other ways to fill holes than just the draft. Adam leaving cleared room to sign other players. This team will be ready.

actually, the majority of their offense last year was run with 2 TE's, but you're right, often times they were split out in the slots.

if we were going into the season as we are now, i might be worried, but free agency is only 2 weeks old, so there is plenty of time to make signings.

there are a lot of players that are going to be cut leading up to the draft to make cap room, so there will be more players. the ones that have been signed so far are big name free agents who's contracts were up. there is talk of Eric Moulds being cut in Buffalo for example.

Tyrone Poole was a bust in Indy, then he had one great season in NE in 03, and he's been hurt since.

I really don't see anyone out there that's going to be an impact player for NE. I think Moulds will go somewhere else.

the pats don't usually sign someone that is an obvious impact player, they usually get someone that no one else was thinking about or that everyone else thought was all done, and he turns into an impact player (harrison, washington, vrabel). anyway, like i said, there is going to be a huge round of cuts just before and just after the draft, so there will be quality free agents to sign.

everyone thought he was on the downside, that he was too old and he was past his prime. they were all wrong, but that was the consenus, which is why there was little interest from other teams. the patriots thought he was an impact player, but around the league, not many people felt that way anymore.
