Morrissey has apologized (http://www.nme.com/news/morrissey/22563) to the Arctic Monkeys regarding his recent comments about the band and their quick success:
The singer was quoted criticising the band's rapid success while at the South By South West festival last week (March 15), suggesting it was too soon and "a bit unnatural".
However Morrissey has issued a further statement to NME.COM, explaining he was not criticising the Sheffield newcomers.
"I'm sorry that the comments I made at SouthBySouthWest about the Arctic Monkeys were printed so harshly in The Times and the NME," states Morrissey.
"I actually quite like the Arctic Monkeys and whatever I said was said with tender, avuncular concern. I hope to God I didn't upset their grannies," he added.
"In any case, I was wrong about their success being too sudden and without any dues paid, because that's exactly how it happened for The Smiths. So, I really should shut it."

You don't discuss music, ever. You take pot-shots at people, and usually my staff. You have 49 posts, and I'd be willing to bet 80% of them are negative assholish comments.
And what conversation do you want to have that I'm wrong? My argument from the get go (in two separate threads, and now this one) was that Morrissey's comments were not made to be "bashing" or a "smear on the Monkeys." His comments today, PROVE THAT. I said he was trying to show concern for their careers (an exact quote from my previous posts, and from his statement today). I was vindicated. My argument was never anything besides, "what he said was true" and "he was not bashing them" and "the press and all you kids are blowing this so far out of proportion it's ridiculous". Three points, made over and over and over again. So, how was I wrong?
Keep proving mine (and everyone elses) impressions of you right. Keep being "that guy" on the website everyone laughs at for spending their time attacking the staff. We only keep you around, and don't ban you, because the more you talk the more kids read your "hey, look at me, I'm the website idiot" posts and come back to see if anyone's responded.

morrissey's words were obviously misconstrued so NME could get a good story. this whole mess shouldn't have happened in the first place and is entirely the fault of a press that loves to start shit. but i agree, the reactions by noel and moz are definitely signs of the coming apocolypse...
i get to see the arctic monkeys tomorrow night! ironically, i haven't been this excited for a show since i saw morrissey.
