"ALBUM HITS #1 ON HEATSEEKER CHART
3/31/2003 1:08:56 PM - by MCA Records
Santa Monica, California, March 31, 2003 - You gotta believe! That's the moral of the Finch story. The Drive-Thru/MCA band's debut album WHAT IT IS TO BURN hit #1 on the Billboard Heatseeker chart this week a year after its release (single was released to radio 1/03). Month 12 brought with it a relentless one-month charge to the top of that key Billboard chart -- in the past four weeks, sales increased from 5,200 to 6,700 to 8,000 to over 10,000 weekly – and rocketed 33 spots on the Top 200.
Also in Finch news - the album has amassed a grand total of nearly a quarter of a million CDs sold to date. Spins are up for the title track and current single, as the track cracks the Top 20 (Alternative). The video also hit #1 on the CVC Report and it’s a new favorite on MTV2 and MuchMusic.
The press has stepped up to the plate, too. L.A. Weekly said of them, "Finch lived up to their minor-phenomenon tag tonight, and their lithe confidence and broad palette suggests a ready-to-burst reservoir of ability and ingenuity," while Alternative Press called the band "A 100-megaton warhead of power and integrity...”
Said Drive-Thru co-owner Stefanie Reines, “We've always believed in the enormous potential of Finch and we're thrilled to see all of the hard work paying off.” Adds co-owner Richard Reines, “After a year of touring with Drive-Thru and MCA working the street-level up, Finch’s base is solid nationwide."
The Temecula, CA.-based band has a unique sound, forged collectively by its members: lead singer Nate Barcalow, guitarists Randy Strohmeyer and Alex Linares, bassist Derek Doherty and drummer Alex Pappas. Their 2001 debut EP FALLING INTO PLACE set the stage for today’s success.
WHAT IT IS TO BURN led to U.S., European, and Japanese tours with New Found Glory and The Used, as well as their own 30-market headlining tour.
Coming up, after returning from two sold-out shows at London's Astoria, Finch stops in NYC to make an April 3rd appearance on "The Conan O'Brien Show," a visit to WXRK for a live acoustic performance, an MTV2 interview, and AOL sessions and RollingStone.com promotional visit. Finally, the band will do an in-store at Vintage Vinyl in New Jersey. After leaving the Garden State, Finch will co-headline the MTV Campus Invasion tour then hit U.S. summer radio shows. Finally, later in the summer, they’ll tour on the main stage of the Warped Tour."
I know it's stupid of me, but this made me sad. I love Finch, they're my favorite band, and I wish them the best in everything they do; they're talented. But with all of this attention, it's going to be so fucking hard to get tickets to their shows, get a good spot at Warped Tour to see them perform, etc. And I don't want any fucking teenybopper chicks to start liking them now because they saw their video on MTV and think they're "hot". I mean, as a chick, I can say that I do find a few members attractive, but that's not why I started liking them...I didn't even know what they looked like when I started listening to them. Bah.
I'm done rambling now...go ahead and bash me for being a moron.
