Could have fooled me. Everyone knew Bonds and Sheffield "worked out" together in the offseason.

Sheffield is still cool in my book for attacking that Boston fan.

i was lucky enough to be at that game ....and to say he deserved it is pretty stupid. he took a swipe at the ball and sheffield pulled an artest and decided he was being attacked because he was mad at the world. stupid incident on both parts ...by no means am i defending the fan because he shouldn't be reaching out onto the field.

Hhahaha if you were there you would know that Sheffield in no way pulled an Artest. Dude went for the ball and Sheff pushed him out of the way. Did he jump into the stands? No. Did he hit the guy? Not even close. So I have no idea where your seats were but I hope they were far away, or I'd consider getting my eyes checked.

let me guess, your a yankee fan? cause my seats were pretty close (1st base line) and the constant replays on TV were even closer .. the fan was stupid enough to reach onto the field and sheffield proceeded to throw ball in THEN come back at the fan. No, he didn't jump into the stands and obviously I wasn't trying to say they (Artest and Sheff) were identical incidents ..but Sheff was still dumb enough to take a swipe. Sorry if your Yankee blinders can't see that.
I'm not saying the fan was right, I'm saying they were both stupid. My eyes are fine and so is my ability to be rational. I'm sorry if that's tough for you.

Yes, I am a Yankees fan and no I don't have blinders on but thank you for asking. I came at you because the comparison to Artest and saying that Sheffield decided he was being attacked and was mad at the world or whatever. Ignorant statement. Though you are right, he did throw the ball and go back and push the guy, it could have been a lot worse. Most sportscasters were praising him, not the yankee-hating SC guys, but newscasters; saying that he showed a lot of restraint. I'd do the same thing in that situation. I'd probably be a lot worse actually.

the mention to artest was an expression in regards to a player/fan incident ..i'm sorry if you thought that was me seriously implying that it was just as bad. i wasn't doing that.
sheffield going after a fan, even if provoked, is nothing to be praised about ...especially since he wasn't attacked. i can see we aren't going to agree here though because you don't believe sheffield was guilty in any way ...so i'll just end it here. i think they were both at fault.

Yeah I get what you're saying now. I do agree with you as well. They were both at fault, I was just making the point the he did restrain himself. It could have turned out a lot worse (hence the Artest comparison).

I kinda wanted Sheff to run in there. Im sure a drunk fan would of punched him and then he also would of been suspended. the "roid rage" chant was brilliant.
props to the security guard in that situation. he was there in a flash.

attacking a fan is unacceptable unless the fan is going to physically hurt you. sorry but you get paid millions upon millions of dollars to have restraint. get security and get that guy kicked out, simple enough.

priceless. a bonds fan talking about restraint and intergrity.
we wouldn't want our precious national pastime tainted, now would we?

They did? As in talking about the fans? Unless youre talking about the person who threw beer, no one attacked Sheff. The guy was surprised when Sheff pushed him. You can't fake that face.

yah because Bonds really attacked his own teammate, your right, Kent had nothing to do with it. that is completely different then attacking a fan and if you don't see that then you are retarded.

you giants fans are testy. on edge these days?

haha maybe it's because i'm from new york, but a punch thrown between anyone involved in the yankees-red sox rivalry is waaaaaay more forgivable than tainting the entire sport.

very true.
i mean boston nyc fights happen often wherever you go. but fucking up a sport and completely tainting the image is unforgivable.
the thing i hate most about bonds is..."i care more about breaking ruths record because hes white." something along those lines were said.

exactly.
i'm not saying sheffield was "right" to do what he did, but I'dhe punched me in the face then have a fucking cheat break what is arguably the biggest record in sports.
