I love Lebron but I'll give it to you that ESPN jumps on the bandwagon of anyone/team that's looking fanciful: UCLA basketball, USC football.

i wont lie if i was a giants fan id probably try to find some way to cover it up, even though id still think he was a cheater...i think we're all partial to our home teams...i wouldnt be a pujols or edmonds fan if they didnt play for the cardinals.

i'm not really a giants fan. i'm just a barry bonds fan. and because of that, that makes me cheer for the giants.

i cannot agree more. Lebron is good but he is not good enough that he stands out from kobe, paul pierce, dwyane wade, and other great players. This is what i hate about lebron when it comes to sportscasters.
When the cavs win: "Man, lebron really makes everyone around him better."
When the cavs lose: "The cavs really need to get some better guys to play with lebron james."
so when they win its because of lebron, but when they lose it is his teammates. i get sick when people say those two things (although they say that for a lot of the above guys as well)

I'd say hes better than kobe, maybe pierce, but wade is definetly outplaying him this season.
wade is going to give steve nash a hell of a run for mvp. (see bill simmons article, he convinced me easily haha)

They made such a big deal of his "buzzer beater", because it was the first he ever hit.
He's been in the league for a while now, its been 200+ games without him hitting one- He's afraid of the big shot, while Carmelo HITS game winners ALL THE FUCKING TIME.
it's BULLSHIT.

Well people are hyping Lebron because he's young. Kobe's got what, 3 or 4 years on him right? And, Lebron's in the same situation, playing straight out of high school. I can see Lebron being better than Kobe in a few years but not yet.
Why's nobody talking about TMac? Oh yeah, because he's injured again.

if im starting a team, i'd want kobe, even though he's selfish- he has a killer instinct, isn't afraid to hold the ball for the last shot and will play defense against the best offensive weapon on the other team.
kobe is better than lebron at this point in time.

"Interesting work from 82games.com (http://www.82games.com/random12.htm) last month, which kept track of everyone's stats in game-winning situations (24 seconds or less: tie game, down by one, down by two) for the past two-plus seasons. Carmelo had the best numbers -- 8-for-14, and that was before he made two more game-winners in the past three weeks. One of the worst guys? Kobe Bryant ... 6-for-25. You read that correctly. he's not more aggressive, if you knew about kobe the reason he's not liked around the league is because he has a killer instinct from the time the ball is tipped until the final horn.

Stats aren't everything, you're right, but for a play style and position like kobe and lebron, stats count for a fuckload. A lot more than they do for someone like Nash or Kidd. Being younger gives him more potential, and I'm telling you why I like lebron over kobe in regards to the entertainment point.
And Thrift, he's not liked around the league because he is cocky, arrogant, and selfish.
That's the end of my kobe bashing, too many damn bball threads have it.

You gave nothing valid in any of your responses except trying to fault mine. If you would actually like to go further, and repeat about 100 threads about Kobe, then be my guest. It's actually getting more repetitive than PS3 vs Rev vs Xbox 360 threads.

you gave NOTHING to back it up. stop being a baby about it and come out and fight.
then trying to say stats DO matter. MAKE UP YOUR FUCKING MIND.
i hate stats about game winning shots, i do not think they should count shots that were taken when the game was tied. I mean, the pressure isn't nearly as great as when your team is losing. If melo takes a shot and its 85-85, if he misses, they go into overtime. I do not see that as being a huge amount of pressure (before people bash me by thinking im saying melo is overrated in the clutch, the guy has hit plenty of shots with his team down, i would give the ball to him).
kobe is better right now, but do not compare them because of age. It was totally different when kobe came into the league. Young guys sat on the bench more often. Plus kobe played for the lakers, a team that was a contender without him. Young guys who are drafted high are now put out on the court from day 1 and are given every damn shot they please. I mean lebron was handed the keys to the cavs, kobe had to sit, watch, and had to own up to shaq when he was missing a huge amount of shots (who does lebron own up to, zyldrunas ilgauskas?).

if i'm starting a team, i want lebron to build around.
i'm not saying he's the best in the league, but he's up there.
and i still don't mind having the ball in lebron's hands with the game on the line. he's gotten much better lately. whether it's taking it straight to the hole and winning it with a layup, or driving, getting quadruple teamed and kicking out for a wide open shot, i like the ball in his hands at the end.
i'm completely biased, though. but that's still my opinion.

thank you. Here goes.
Lebron can drive to the lane and make a layup / dunk against pretty much any player in the league, hence my strength comment (meaning physical strength and overall greater athletic ability over Kobe) In his last five games he has averaged 35.2 points 9.4 rebounds and 6.6 assists to kobe's 31.6 / 3.8 / 5.4. On the season lebron's FG% is 47.3% to kobe's 44.3%, and Kobe's 3PT% is only one percent more at 34% to lebron's 33.1%. Lebron's 39-29 caves are second only to the Pistons in their division with, 4th in the conference compaired to Kobe's third in division, seventh in conference, hovering around .500, 36-34 Lakers. Lebron is doing a better job leading the Cav's than Kobe is leading the Lakers. Granted, Kobe's points have been higher on a season average, but your season means nothing if you can't play down the 20 game stretch (and you can easily count that 81 point performance as an outlier in that average).
You can also complain about teammates all you want, but both stars are their respective teams. The only ones that come close are Odom and Ilgauskas. Ilgauskas only has three of eight of the team's top stats (FT% 3PT% and Blocks, and Lebron has three - Pts, Rebs, and steals) where as Odom holds five of eight for the lakers (rebounds, assists, FG%, 3PT% and blocks, kobe has the other three - Pts, FT% and steals). Again, I am an odom fan, and i agree he was overrated coming out of Miami, but now very underrated coming out of last season's performance with the lakers. Lebron builds team chemistry, while Kobe destroys it (need I mention Shaq, or did you figure that out all by yourself already?).
This is an exert from ESPN in a bit i read today about mvp regarding kobe (hate to pop your bubble of ignorance claming you are the only source of basketball news to anyone that posts here, but, you're not the only person that reads espn.com in the entire world)
"Forget that his team is hovering around .500 and forget the notion he must make his teammates better to be MVP. It takes time for a team to adjust to working with a player whose game is at such a high level, and vice-versa"
Are you sure these are things you can just "forget"? A team only one game ahead of the 8th place Sacremento and only two games ahead of the 9th place Hornets. And how long has kobe been on the lakers? Didn't last year give the players an entire season to get used to only having one guy to go to rather than two? Is Kobe making his teammates better? Maybe only in assists when Kobe demands the ball. Is Lebron? Well, probably debatable, but I'll let their standings to the talking. Kobe is a constant game winner? Not this season - again that 6-25 stat comes up (which is now 7-28, by the way). I know what you're thinking, and no, you didn't tell point me to it, Simmons did (See previous "bubble" comment). Kobe has been a lot better in the past on being clutch? Oh, but, we are afterall talking about current better player as you keep trying to drill into everyone's head.
And finally, you keep mentioning blah blah stats make up your mind blah blah blah. Did you read anything I said? Stats matter a lot more for a scoring position such as Kobe and Lebron against a guard position such as Nash or Jason Kidd. (Do I need to explain why? Did you figure this one out yourself as well?). You wanted stats, I gave you stats.
I'll end this fucking essay with a quote I read today, again from Simmons:
" If ESPN.com [AP.net] was an island, I'm [Brownpants06] more like Locke (intuition and gut feeling) and Hollinger [Caleb] is more like Jack (by the book)" I replaced the refrences with ours, to make it easier for you. This used to be my thinking, that I think Lebron is better going on intuition and gut feeling, where as you would pick Kobe because of his by the book stats.
However, in this case, i just tore your fucking stat book wide open. Good day.
