I wasn't complaining about it, and I did read that the OP said it was his personal preference and to add to the list as you see fit. I've never listened to New Again because I have no desire to. I'm just surprised that nobody flipped out when they saw New Again because it's usually instantly attacked when it's merely brought up.

i didnt put New Again or No Line on the Horizon there because i liked either album. i think that those are the two worst albums by each respective band. i put them there because both were major releases that came out this year. that way when people read it the list can appeal to more readers and it hits really all the major releases.

Surprised at what a good album it was. Not knocking on NFG, but I've had so many older bands put out disappointing albums for a while. That's starting to change though. H2O did the same thing, put out a badass album even though they're old farts.

Here are a few good ones that I don't think have been mentioned:
Passion Pit - Manners
Darkest Hour - The Eternal Return
Phoenix - Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix
The Blackout - The Best In Town
Born Of Osiris - A Higher Place
Fake Problems - It's Great To Be Alive
Propagandhi - Supporting Caste
Kiss Kiss - The Meek Shall Inherit What's Left
Faunts - Feel. Love. Thinking. Of.
And still to come:
Frank Turner - Poetry of the Deed
Soulsavers - Broken

okay, just finished updating the first post. it took a lot less time than i thought it would. it has all the suggestions now, everyone make sure you read through that list and dont re-post any cds that are on there! im gonna see if i can alphabetize the list on microsoft excel, i think that might work..
EDIT: yeah the excel thing worked, hooray for automatic ABC-ing
you might as well just went to some major release chart because there are so many people on here with so many, mainly bad, tastes in music that the majority of albums released this year will be listed anyways...

you were critizing my list because it was going to have to many releases and some of them will be bad and itll just end up being a list of most of the albums that came out this year.
.....then you showed me that.
Yeah, I was confused about that too for a while. I'm even more surprised that nobody has said anything about New Again making the list.
I noticed that, and it seems like a lot of people don't like it. But if you don't really compare it to some of the older ones, it's not that bad. It's just a bit different for them. Maybe it's me, but it seems almost more accessible.

is it worth anything? i decided that louder now was where my enjoyment of this band came to an end...probably a little late. i heard one of the singles from new again and wasnt feeling it and i didnt want to ruin this band forever for me. i wonder what their concerts are like these days. anyway i digress.
passion pit and manchester ftw.

Lydia's "Illuminate" was released in March of 2008.
Also, how about Anchor and Braille - "Felt"
No mention of Ace Enders and a Million Different People, This Providence, or Emery. Granted not the best releases by any of them, but still pretty solid albums.

its just not their own quality music. fred was clearly more a part of the songwriting than they let on. i was so disappointed with the album. it hasnt got any lasting quality at all.

I'm not disagreeing. Because of my age Where You Want To Be is actually what I heard in its entirety first, and it's still my favorite. It was something I just randomly picked up one day for no reason other than it was on sale and I'd liked You're So Last Summer and Timberwolves at New Jersey.

I kind of failed to notice the age thing initially. I was referring more in reference to Tell All Your Friends, which came out when we were what, 11? But I know I bought Where You Want To Be right after my 13th birthday, and I remember buying it and listening to it at the same time as CDs that it had absolutely nothing in common with, and I guess that's why it stuck with me. And it might be something in the whole you sort of fall in love with the first thing you hear by a band that you really like, and I guess that's sort of what it was. And I never really gave Louder Now a chance, so I can't really have an opinion on that. So I may have to give it another listen in its entirety.

sometimes its tougher than others. cuz that album was something that some people really liked but most people hated...
last lights was a hardcore band, think refused, thursday, and modern life is war. NPNPNF is their discography, their singer died after wrapping the mic around his neck and cutting off blood to his brain somewhere during a show late last year. incredibly sad.

Yeah, here's an age breakdown of fans' reactions to Punk Goes Pop 2:
1 day- 16 years old: "OMGZ! Alesana is god!" or "Craig Owens could record himself shaving his pubes and I'd listen to it!"
17 years old- 21 years old: "DUDE ADTR made the Fray look hardcore! Let's put on our bandanas and bro down!"
22 years old- onward: "How is this anywhere near passable music?"

lmao! fairly accurate. ADTR is really the only song i liked off the album. i actually lol'ed at the alesana thing.
and im a fan of chiodos. im hardly a craig owens fanboy but i defended him when there was all that shit going on about his EP title. i just respect the things he does, even though lately he's been letting me down. a new chiodos record should solve it

Definitely worth the ridiculous priced tickets, because they put on one terrific show.
And 21st Century Breakdown is a great album to spend 70 consecutive minutes listening to. Though I feel like parts of it sound like they came straight from older Green Day songs.

thats because they do! its a concept album, you know that. and its supposed to be like the end of the world, and christian and gloria are looking back on the past. thats why songs in the latter part of the album have references to songs at the beginning of the album as well as old green day songs, because they are in the past.
