I was about to say someone should start a site called God Hates Fred Phelps, but someone already did (http://www.godhatesfredphelps.com/). These guys came to my town last July, and were welcomed with protesters on every corner. The main reason they came was because our Mayor Dan Stewart is gay and we are all heathens who should obviously burn in the bowels of hell.

Pretty much the whole city showed up to counteract the hate they spread and nobody allowed themselves to be worked up about it and start a fight and cause some lawsuit. It was all peaceful (though there was some angyr shouting). They left like a day later because they were "bored".

So it goes to show you that these people have about as much power as their "enemies" are willing to give them. Just don't give into the hate of it all, you only make them stronger.

He's basically an old lawyer that realized he could use loopholes in the law to exploit people's emotions and feelings.
