Adam Vinatieri: Hall of Famer?

Should Adam Vinatieri go to the Hall of Fame when his career is done? There is only one placekicker in the hall. I think Vinatieri should go. He is the greatest clutch kicker of all time. He is basically the reason for the pats first super bowl (the game winner in the snow versus the raiders, and the game winner in the super bowl). He started the pats dynasty. Are his skills and ability in the clutch able to get him into the HOF?

I think he should. Points and stats are irrelevant when it comes to kicking, unless it's accuracy. Which Vinateri is great at and his clutch kicks of course. He gets the job done all the time.

He'll probably get a lot of kicks and points while playing for the Colts and being indoors half the year anyway.

some of the old guys were part time kickers, but that doesn't really count. This is the only full-time kicker in the hall.

he's a kicker. i'll say it again, a kicker will never ever be the best player on a team.

unless he can consistently make 85 yard field goals, then maybe. making a kick at the end after offense and defense has battled the entire game does not make you the best player.

now hold on, you can't just start throwing in every famous kicker. They need to stand out. I just think both of these guys fizzled out as they got older. I think anderson is the career points leader (not sure) but by the end of his career, he could barely hit anything over 40. I just think that if you can take any of these guys in their prime, it would be vinatieri.

Theres no one else today or in the last 20 years who compares to these three. They will all make it.

Morten Andersen converted over 80% of his kicks in each of his last 5 seasons in the NFL. That's pretty damn good for an old guy. 2358 career points, two seasons with 31 FGs made,

Gary Anderson is the all time points leader with 2431, and really only had one bad season from 96-04.

They were both also apart of the 1980s and 1990s All-Decade team, which is selected by HOF committee, so they have a very good shot at getting in.

plus, he ran down herschel walker on a kick off return as a rookie, that alone is HOF worthy.

Gary has been around forever and is the all-time leader in points. Theres no way he wont get in.

edit: George Blanda was the previous leading scorer, now behind morten and gary, and he is in the hall of fame, however, he isn't a pure place kicker, as Stenerud is.
