Things are really starting to get exciting. The support shown so far in the first couple days of pre order has been astonishing. I do hope it continues.
Meanwhile, the possibility of shows is becoming more and more realistic.
It has come to my attention over the last couple weeks that the guys in this band are not only the best musicians I have ever worked with but also of the strongest character I could wish for in friends. Rest assured, the music you hear when you put in our CDs is coming from a very warm, sincere place from people that know the definition of integrity and how to execute a passion for music. I feel so lucky that Lover has come together the way it has, and I hope it sees tremendous success.
An interesting fact that many will not know without reading this journal is that Gared O'Donnell, the vocalist of one of my all time favorite bands, Planes Mistaken For Stars, aided the creation of the album by providing the title. The title of the album, Lover, the Lord Has Left Us... comes from a PMFS lyric that has not yet been released. I contacted Gared personally hoping he could come up with a title that I felt was epic enough to encompass the vast, eclectic nature of the music, without him even hearing the music. In theory this album title would then penetrate the recording process, which at that point was far from over, and change the direction of the music. I thought that would be a cool way to get Gared involved, even if he couldn't have a hand in the actual playing on the album. We will never know how successful this experiment was as far as the title impacting the direction of the songs, but it did end up becoming very relevant to the overall cohesiveness of the lyrics and vibe of the album. One thing is for sure: I love the title and it is special coming from a person whose music I respect.
