that was a terrible loose ball foul though they called against gonzaga right at the end while they were still up, if anything the UCLA player was using his arm to keep the Gonzaga player away.

i said the same thing in the ncaa thread. The whole team should just apologize to morrison after the game. Especially batista. Morrison is doubled and somehow gets the ball across to batista. One of morrisons guy goes to cover batista. So wait. That means one guy is still on morrison and two are on batista. So that means that a gonzaga player is wide open, probably standing right by half court. Ridiculous.

Gonzaga let that game slip away from them. And yes, it was Batista's fault for losing the ball, but yet, two of UCLA's guys were wide open by the basket when they had the ball. where were the zags there?

I agree with you on that one. Looked like UCLA was going to be called for a foul, if anything.

I think the announcer would've had a heart attack if he had made the shot. He was already freaking out enough once the shot went up.

Good luck with that one man. I think both teams are in trouble tomorrow. UConn hasn't been too strong in this tournament and Villanova is a tough opponent for BC though. I guess we'll have to wait and see though. Let's just hope tomorrow's games are as exciting as tonight's were!

No fucking way. The refs were calling EVERYTHING against us. We had 2 guys with 4 fouls, 2 of our GOOD guys, and they're usually never in foul trouble. And the basket that didn't count for Collison? Nobody talks about that.
People need to realize that Adam Morrison is great but Gonzaga is weak. Nobody else could really score beside Morrison and Batista.

oh my. I think he's on his way to the pros ...this doesnt seem like the kind of reaction a guy who's focused on one more year would have. I'd love to see him stay ...but I don't know how much sense it would make for him. The Zags may have very well maxed out there potential this season and w/ the loss of Batista it'll be hard to repeat the results of this season ..Morrison or no Morrison.

Exactly, as soon as I saw his face with 1.9 seconds left, I knew he was gone to the NBA.
He had every reason to be pissed that he didn't get the last shot, that Batista turned it over...but what did he say,
"We got a great shot with Batista who was a lot closer to the basket than I was...can't ask for much better"
I gotta say, I respect Morrison a lot still, he always handles these situations with class.

Yeah Morrison was really classy about the loss, made no excuses or anything. The guys from UCLA were really classy too when they went over to console Morrison once he burst out in tears. Gotta respect that.

actually i doubt it's anything like that at all.
there isn't much more to life than basketball for someone like adam morrison and that's why he's as good as he is. this isnt just a game for someone like him ...i think that's fairly obvious. some people are just emotional by nature too, i wouldnt worry about it.

Well once again if you had worked your ass off your whole life practicing and finally get to the biggest game of your life and lose the way you did, I see nothing wrong with the way he reacted. Basketball is a huge part of his life which he loves. Yes it is just a sport but from everything he put into it, I think he has the right to cry

but to some people basketball is a way of life. He didn't spend 15 or however many years training to fight King Hippo (who may be the easiest person to beat on Punch-Out, I guess you should cry if he beats you). It takes a lot of hard work to get that far.
I get teary eyed when I played my last high school game, although Morrison will play organized basketball again, it's still an end of an era.

but you are suggesting something needs to be the "end of the world" in order to cry ....if you are with some girl you love for about 3 years and then she cheats on you and leaves you ..you might cry, even if it isnt the "end of the world". basketball is probably the most important thing in his life besides his family (and maybe even more important), so it's understandable that he's devastated.

I dunno I just see crying as a way of giving up or not knowing how to deal with the feeling of losing. You would think if he can come back for another year he would actually look forward to the opportunity. Also I just see it as something a child would do when he thinks its the end of the world because something was lost, but not an adult.

He does have another year but a big part of this team is graduating (Batista, Knight) so they probably wouldn't be as good next year. Plus you know how sports is. Who knows if he would ever have the chance to go as far in the tourney as they did this year. Even though it is just a game, I feel really bad for him and the rest of the team.

Eh, I don't know how to explain the feeling of losing to someone that doesn't already understand what they're going through as a competitor.

Have you never played any type of competitive sports? Losing itself hurts, and losing a champ game in highschool bball i have seen people cry. To lose in the biggest tournament of most players lives after having such a huge lead, seeing your team breakdown, etc. Especially for morrison since it wasen't even really him choking. He missed a shot or two in the final minutes, but nowhere near the crap that went on with batista and the other dude who turned it over in the final 20 sec.

there's nothing wrong with crying after losing. actually, i'd have more of a problem with somebody not crying after losing a game of this importance. if it doesn't hurt enough to make you cry, then your heart isn't in it enough to be where you are. that's my take on that.
what i did have a problem with though, is when he started crying. right after it became 71-70 and gonzaga lost the ball. there were still three seconds left. he was basically balling at that point. in a one point game. they inbound, you foul, you are down 2 or 3 with about two seconds left. crazier shit has happened. maybe it's just me though, but it seemed like he had given up at that point. had he kept his composure a bit, who knows? had he been determined to not let that be the end, maybe he gets in a position where he has the ball and not batista. maybe he has the chance to win it or extend it. i understand it's emotional, and it all happened so fast. but you gotta play until it's triple zeros on the clock.
i'm not bashing him at all. he's had a great career, and it's sad for anybody's college career to end on that note. i respect him. i just didn't like the lack of composure and apparent giving up before it was over.

Yeah i played High School football, i actually have a similar story, we went undefeated for the whole season beating teams 50-0 in most cases, Well one of the teams couldn't play so we played our rival school from a higher division, we lost 14-13, only loss that year. I didn't cry, it did suck but i just didn't see a reason to cry.
I guess different people act differently to situations, plus I come from southwest Va so you don't see many men crying. Though Reddick is from the same area so mabye its a new thing.

One final thing about Morrison crying. If anybody had the least reasons to cry it would have been Morrison, since he could just have said fuck college basketball I will just turn pro and become a millionare. To me seeing him cry and seeing how upset he was only showed me how much he truly cares about winning and the game. That says a lot for somebody as good as him in college (and Redick) to care so much when a lot of guys as talented as them would just look at the money they are about to make and not care as much
