i've loved doo wop music since i was a kid, when my parents used to play "The Wanderers" soundtrack cassette in our mini van, back in the day. that's where i first fell in love with The Shirelles and Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons, Dion & the Belmonts, etc. some of the best legit singers ever. there wasn't autotune or anything kind of effects back then. it's all just pure talent.

everyone needs to give this music a chance. some songs are just straight up fun, and others are sad; some great love songs came from the 50's, as well.

anyway, i can't be the only person who likes this music. so let's all come together and discuss and share.

I'm not big on doo wop, but I am a fan of 40's, 50's, 60's music.

I definitely like the Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons mix. The Shirelles' "Foolish Little Girl" is one of my favorite oldies.

if you go to the mixtapes forum, you will find a Doo Wop mix i made. 31 songs. start there and see what you like.

as far as i can tell, old groups from the 50's didn't generally have full length albums; just 7" singles, i believe. and then later on, labels put together "best of" compilations from the artists.

you rule for making this thread!

the ability to make timeless music with only vocals/harmonies and using minimal to no instruments, so much talent

seriously! and they didnt have the tools to alter their voices in the studios to make them sound like they're golden. this is straight up TALENTED singers. little to no studio magic at all. no autotune or anything. its amazing...

Bobby Helm's "You Are My Special Angel" is more country than doo wop, but it's definitely a great record to check out.

I've been meaning to get into this kind of music recently, actually hahaha. I've been hearing more and more of this music around recently for whatever reason, and whenever I hear it I always really dig it.
