is really risky, hit or miss.
It better not suck.
I love Nintendo, but really, WHY? This could be a brilliant idea, or an awful one that will put Nintendo away.

you are aware that the "remote" is not the only controller for the system?

you are aware that the "remote" is not the only controller for the system?Im aware of this. There will be a shell controller, which im guessing is supposed to be similar to the current gamecube controller.

And the Gamecube controllers will be compatible with the Rev, so if you don't like the new controller you can always use those. Nintendo has thought of everything. There is no chance for disappointment.

The remote is so small I can shove it in my ass.
With that said, I hope it has a rumble feature. ^______^ kawaiiii

Definitely a good point. I myself probably won't be using the new style controller all that much, but who cares? I can still use the old controllers while someone else can use the new controller. Nintendo is very smart to cover their angles.

The N64 controller was a mistake haha. It wasn't functional at all but it got the job done. Just because it worked and we look back on it fondly doesn't mean that it was a good controller.

I'm always skeptical of nintendo controllers (N64/GC) but then they always turn out to be my favorite ones of the current generation. I think nintendo knows what they're doing with this one.

Gamecube was a step back for Nintendo. I love mine, but really it was just their adaptation of the PS2. You look at all of their other systems and they were some sort of innovation at the time (Nintendo, Super Nintendo, and N64's controllers were all innovative also).
Nintendo would bury itself if they continued to build off of other systems. This is a brilliant idea.

That doesn't make any sense. And, although the left half of the controller was pretty much useless (except for, like WCW games) it is because they included the NEW idea of an analog control stick.
Look at all the innovations that Nintendo made in the console controller market:
1. The NES was the first console to use a D-Pad (originally invented for the Game & Watch handhelds; all controllers up until this point used joysticks)
2. The SNES was the first R/L shoulder buttons
3. The Virtual Boy was the first controller with both left and right hand directional controls
4. The N64 was the first (major) controller to incorporate an analog control stick (The GCE Vectrex used an analog stick in '82; all other controllers until this point used D-Pads or digital 4 or 8-directionaljoysticks)
5. The N64 was the first controller to incorporate a trigger (Z) button
6. The N64 was the first to have a "Rumble" function
5. The WaveBird controller for GameCube is the first 1st-Party wireless controller.
And think about how often Nintendo is copied:
1. The Sega Master System and NEC TurboGrafx-16 controllers were just copies of the NES
2. The original PlayStation controller is an almost exact rip-off of the SNES
3. The new XBOX 360 controller is almost exactly a GameCube controller
Nintendo has ALWAYS been ahead of the game with their controllers, so I trust what they are doing with the Revolution.

Yeah, that's true, except for the GameCube.
Gamecube was a step back for Nintendo. I love mine, but really it was just their adaptation of the PS2.
I think they borrowed more from the Dreamcast than anything else; the only thing they really got from the DualShock was the size and the dual analog sticks.
With this controller, they were just trying to make something intuitive and functional, and they did. The GameCube controller was probably the best controller of its generation, but it really did nothing for the next generation of controllers (until the WaveBird wireless controller, at least).
EDIT - the GameCube also has those awesome two-funtion triggers... i'm pretty sure no one else had those before Nintendo.

I know it doesn't make sense but it's the truth. It was a good controller to many but it can still be considered a failure. The reason that it was a failure to many was because it was a hideous controller that is not pleasing to the masses. It scared many gamers and the controls were flawed. Yes, it had all those innovations that you listed but there were still problems. The C buttons for example were far too small and far away from the rest of the buttons (think of the original Xbox black and white button fiasco). Like you mentioned, the entire left half of the controller was useless in many games and when you needed to use the analog stick with the D Pad it was near impossible.
Don't get me wrong, I love Nintendo just as much, probably more, than the next guy. As great as the N64 controller was, it still had problems. I wouldn't change it though.

There's a lot of stuff that could be argued in there, but I'm way to lazy to do it, also there's the fact of the rabid fanboyism so anything said counter to that will just be like when adults talk in Peanuts.

Only half of the things he said mentioned anything about the 64 controller, which he was debating, and none of it actually said why it made the controller not a failure. Just because it brings about new ideas doesn't mean that it's successful from a design point of view. Hello Virtual Boy.

I wouldn't call it fanboyism. It's more preference toward another system, and a sort of dedication. Fanboys do everything they can to support their favorite system and try to belittle any other system.

Only my first couple sentences were in response to the N64 quote... the rest of it was about Nintendo as a whole, and how I'm not gonna hate on the Revolution controller until I use it and judge for myself.
Honestly, though, I'm not sure how much I'm going to like this motion-sensitive idea.... I really don't like drawing on the DS...
p.s. I still own a Virtual Boy (and it's set up in my room; who wants to play some 3D Mario Tennis?)

Oh, good call then. If you don't like it, there will always be the controller shell.
3D Mario Tennis was such a great game. I loved it. My favorite on the Virtual Boy.
I don't have that much faith in the idea the Revolution works. It might be a step in the right direction to the future of gaming, but are people gonna be ready for it? I look forward to test-driving it myself though, it should be an experience in Game while everyone is watching, and if it's decent, I might end up getting one pre-owned or something.

Yeah, and a lot of people choose to not use it. Sometimes it just doesn't feel right. I never use it for MarioKart but the DS provides probably the best Kart experience ever released...just because you don't use it doesn't mean that you're not getting the most out of your system.
Honestly, I don't see how using the Revmote is going to work with a game like Smash Bros., so if it doesn't work well, I'll be fine using the shell controller. There are some games that will cater to the controller though and that's what it's going to be all about.

That's what I'm going to be like when I finally get the Revolution. The saddest part is that I'm not kidding in the least.
I love all these arguments about how Nintendo pretty much invented and perfected the gaming controller. I'll agree on almost every point there, but it's all void if you can barely play games with them, and that's just how I picture the Revolution controller. I really don't mean to cause any offense, since I'm not a fanboy and I don't hate Nintendo. I'm just curious to see how many people will willingly play games like this, and whether it will catch on (Imagine the Revolution controller with a giant neon-green X in the middle...).
Although I had a friend in school who used to play games on his Mega Drive while moving the controller in the way he was going. It was entertaining to watch, so maybe I can't wait to see people playing this in stores.

are you serious? the only thing they changed was the size of the controller... its just an altered xbox controller, they werent ripping of GCN
The 360 controller is a hybrid of the Gamecube and PS2 controller in my opinion.
PS: For all you kids who have seen the N64 video... you can't touch this kid.
