Air
Royksopp (at least Melody A.M.)
I Am Robot and Proud
Prefuse 73 - Preparations
The Field
DJ Shadow - Endtroducing...
There's a lot of good stuff out there though.
As someone posted directly above me, Air. The whole album "Moon Safari" by Air is excellent electronica.

What the hell is "smooth electronica"? All the recommendations in this thread have been artists from totally different genres, can you give an example or something?

I'm guessing the OP was asking something along the lines of chill-out Electronic music, which is what some would call "Smooth Electronica".

Wrong. Did you listen to Air? Or any other ones listed?
I'm thinking they wanted down-tempo electronic music, not that difficult.

Air is the only right answer.

lol, I know what Air sounds like, thank you. In fact, I've listened to every single artist mentioned in this thread, with the exception of Fila Brazillia, extensively. I'm also fully aware of what downtempo is, as well as the fact that it is a very vague concept that encompasses a lot of things, so you can drop the condescending attitude.
Lumping Air in with acts as different as The Field (who makes Gas-worship Tech House), Louis La Roche (French Touch throwback), and DJ Shadow (Instrumental Hip-Hop/Turntablism) strikes me as a little odd, especially when the OP is using buzzwords as vague as "smooth" and "electronica."
Anyway, as far as downtempo/chillout and all loosely associated genres go, lately I've been into:
Goldfrapp (mostly Felt Mountain)
Mount Kimbie
Burial (especially his collaboration with Four Tet)
Junior Boys
Leftfield
Vladislav Delay/Uusitalo/some Luomo

Immoor, perhaps?

You came in here with an attitude, look at the first post you made; I even quoted it for you! And that's absolutely fantastic you listened to all those, I thought they were all pretty good recs based on the very general and scattered genre of music he was asking for.
But, thank you for sharing your extensive musical knowledge with the rest of us; we could never measure up to the standards you must set for posting on a random music request thread :worship:. Thanks!

The OP made a ridiculously vague thread and all I asked for was clarification. Somewhat rudely, I'll admit, but I wouldn't say I had an "attitude" until your misguided attempt to correct me. Not to mention your own, "not that difficult," bit at the end. Sorry, but it is difficult to discuss Electronic music on any meaningful level when 95% of people who listen to it are describing it in terms as simple as "smooth electronica."

Well, let's just shake hands and shut up :-d hahaha. You seem to have good taste in "electronic" music, so I'm sorry I had an attitude, too. There's so many sub genres for this kind of music, the list could just go on and on with random guesses trying to figure out what he wants haha. I think the ones that you listed and Air would be a good start, though...

Sure. :)
I think I just get especially pissy about Electronic genres because of how often they're completely misrepresented, especially here in the US where their fanbase is marginal at best compared to Europe (and other parts of the world). :(
I guess shouting at anyone who even bothers to listen to it doesn't help that very much, though.

Understandable. Just keep posting good stuff and try to influence someone with good music.
My biggest pet peeve regarding misinterpretation of electronic music is when I hear people immediately call it "Techno" once they hear any beats, etc. God that annoys me to no end. Not everything that has a danceable beat is Techno, people :-d !
