At the Fall Out Boy (http://www.falloutboyrock.com) show in Austin, Texas the other night, the band were fined $15,000 for playing "Saturday" past curfew time. Pete claims it was well worth it though. More on this can be found in his latest journal (http://www6.falloutboyrock.com/falloutboy/journal.php).

did they know there was a curfew? well some one should have unplugged the sound before they could play it. that isnt very fair.
It's about time they started getting fined for closing with that lame ass song. Switch up your set list!!!!!
Fall Out Boy is obviously punk. STICK IT TO THE MAN AND THEIR CURFEWS.

Pete Wentz pulled it out of his back pocket, threw it at the manager, spit in his face and flew of on the wings of a griffin.
I saw it.

Their tour manager would have had advanced notice on curfew times. He probably just lost track of time and let them play. I bet he also had advanced notice of the fine and how much it would have been for. I highly doubt this is the band's fault.
I remember at the Saosin show at the Vineland bowling alley, No Warning got too rowdy and cops had to come and bust people's faces. No Warning was like, "Fuck these pigs, just go crazy" and they wouldn't stop playing. Too bad they suck.

$15,000 to them is like $5 to you and me so it means nothing at all.

One song for $15,000? I know that Fall Out Boy is bling blinging now, but that's still an outrageous fine. So who gets the money? The city or the club?

I didn't realize how strict the curfew laws are for shows until recently. Sucks that it has to be that way with no leniency (sp?).

The way Pete words it in his journal, it sounds like the day saturday, not the song. Like they played after curfew on saturday. I dunno.

this story made me smile a bit. anal retentive texas cops.
what a joke. shows how fucking rich they are, that it was 'worth it'.

If I wasn't rich and got fined $15,000 I wouldn't say playing one song was worth it.
There's the logic my friend.

The band's wealth is not in question. A band with $15 in their pocket or a band worth $1.5 million could say it's worth it to play a song despite the fine. It's going to be very difficult for the band worth next to nothing to pay it, but they can still say "that was worth it." Fall Out Boy didn't have to say "it was worth it", they could've been pissed like most of us would be. It's like you're holding it against them for being successful.

I'm not holding anything against them. FOB are deep, I think it's cool that they've blown up and that they're richer than all of us. I was just saying. I'd still be fucking pissed though if I got fined for playing music, haha

The city, i imagine the club also got a smaller fine.
They got fined cause it was an all ages show on a school night.
I really dont think its an outrageous fine - the band and venue are well aware of the laws, if fob says this is our last song and its after they got the warning from venue about going over the curfew then they are fully capable of paying the 15k which will likely be lowered in court and payed for by the label.
The city of Austin is pretty cool with bands and live shows - so im willing to bet they got a warning and ignored it.
Haha it's all good. :) :headspin:

I've went through some weird phases at AP. It's like my second life or something, there was that awkward stage and then that stage where I wanted to have sex with every member and then that stage where I convinced myself I was on staff and started banning people and that stage where I typed Boobies. every post. :X

Two things:
1. No one has a gun to your head. You don't have to read anything.
2. How were we being douches? You're frowning on discussion in a message board?
Seriously, go outside and get some fresh air. You're way too uptight.

The people around here get dumber and dumber. Fall Out Boy isn't charging anyone anything. The label / promoters / venues are in charge of that. If you know anything about business (and I'm assuming you don't by your post), supply and demand is the cause.
