anyone else like, watch, own the show

i watched every single episode and i loved it.
I liked the "old" episodes more than the ones with agent Doggett, though.
This was my favorite show until I started watching LOST. I'm slowly collecting each season on DVD.

Pretty big fan of this show. Haven't watched it in forever though. I started going through the seasons a year or two ago but only got through the first season and about half of the second. I've been meaning to purchase all of the seasons and have a little marathon but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

I wasn't a fan of the movies either. I was fine with just the series, which were good.
As a kid, I knew the lines of Fight The Future by heart, but I Want To Believe kind of sucked. Sorry. lol
Only ever seen the Pilot. I have season 1 to watch but I haven't got around to it yet.

haha i love that episode. My little brother is terrified of the one with the guy that can squeeze through tight places and eats people kidneys or something and my sister is terrified of the flukeman haha
so my sister-in-law has the whole series on DVD and i borrowed them on 8/14 and as of yesterday i've watched seasons 1 through 6.
probably going to start season 7 tonight and be done within the next few weeks.
it's an incredible show. by far one of the better shows i've watched. mulder is so funny. i couldn't imagine watching these shows as they came on television, having to wait a week between episodes, or even months between seasons.
this show is intense, and i highly recommend it to everyone.

I was just thinking about this show the other night. I think it's time I started watching the series again.
started season 7 last night. it was great. i guess i'll update this thread every time i watch it. i finished the first two eps from season 7 last night.
so i finally finished the series.
this is the best tv drama i've ever watched. it's so good.
i highly recommend this show to anyone who has the time to watch this. you have to start at the beginning obviously, but it's amazing and well worth it.

My all time favourite show. Obsessed with it as a little kid from about age of 10, got most of the comics/graphic novels/books, collectable figurines, posters etc. all stored in plastic wallets and kept in their boxes haha.
Genuinely love it still and was going to go as Mulder and Scully to Halloween this year with my best friend, but she bailed on dying her hair.
I seem to be one of very few who actually adored Fight The Future too, thought it was a great part of the show as a sort of seperate chapter. The new film, disappointing obviously.
that's awesome. i almost did the whole mulder/scully thing too this year, but didn't.
i still need to watch the other movie.
you think they'll come back and do a 2012 alien movie? that would be epic. they said they'd like to, it's just up to the studios and whatnot.
Kyle Huntington
11/02/09, 02:36 PM
Yeah I think th general feel from the actors anyways was that if the fans keep wanting films then they will always be happy to be in more/at least one more. So I guess it depends how production teams/distributors/studios feel the last film did and if it's worth it.

Sorry this is so late, I don't think there is though. There was rumour of it around the time of the new film be released, but it never happened.
Just started Season 6 on my run through. Watched the first film in sequence with the series too and it was awesome. I seem to remember seasons 1-5 and Fight The Future a lot more than Season 6-7 (I stopped watching once Doggett was introduced years ago), so it's refreshing seeing episodes I haven't watched about 10 times each.
Just watched one of the best episodes ever too, "Triangle", where Mulder is on The Queen Mary but in the second world war due to visiting the Bermuda Triangle. There is about a 15 minute tracking shot of Scully in the episode with no edits and it is seriously so well executed.

Disappointing, massively so. I've heard that if they do another, David Duchovny wants to have more of a hand in writing it with Kim Manners/David Spotnitz and getting back on track with a more extra-terrestrial story, which makes me very happy.

Can't say I loved this episode but Mulder in the church praying at the end while Scully listens to tapes of his past therapy sessions was beautifully done. B-
01x04 - The Jersey Devil
Decent enough start only heads downhill after. Would have preferred this to just stick to the woods but bringing these "beasts" to the city ruined it for me. Only saving grace was Scully going out on a date only to give us a hint that she might, somewhere deep down, like Mulder. C-

01x07 - Ice
First perfect (okay, near-perfect) episode of the series. While "Squeeze" was the first to set the tone for how unsettling the show can get, "Ice" somehow ups it even further. When they are inspecting the dog and the worm brushes past Scully's hand... yeah, that's good TV. A-

I haven't seen 'I Want to Believe' so I can't really comment, but to me the 'Monster of the Week' type episodes were nothing compared to the episodes where the are actually exploring the idea of extraterrestrial life. So the movie would be a little disappointing to me. It's been a while since I've seen the 1st movie, but I remember that I liked it.
I love how scatterbrained and crazy Mulder is portrayed, at least early. They seem to tone it down though.

Some of my favorite episodes are the religious ones. I love the interaction between Mulder and Scully in those ones. She's religious, but won't admit to there being aliens. I would recommend this yeah, because the main plot is the relationship between secret governmaent agencies, FBI, conspiracies, the X-Files themselves etc. Just stretched over a long period of time with various stories not necessarily 100% to do with this main story. But to understand it all, for sure from the beginning.

01x10 - Eve
This was a solid step in the right direction. Weird kids and a solid, creepy plot. An episode I'd be more than happy to pop again anytime. B+
01x11 - Fire
My favorite episode of the series so far featuring a terrific and creepy, villain. "Fire" also does what I felt "Ice" didn't which was end with a bang. Only critique would be the return of Mulder's old-love though it brought some funny scenes with Scully. A-
01x12 - Beyond the Sea
Really like how this episode spun the beliefs of these characters completely backwards by making Scully the believer while Mulder is flat out denying the possibility that this dude could be telling the truth about channeling these people. Brad Dourif slays it in this episode and Anderson does her best work so far. Great, great episode. A

Keep your eyes open for Nichola Lea, who will later play Krycek. I think he plays some guy who dies at the beginning of the episode.
I'm almost finished with season 8. So far, Roadrunners is my favorite from this season. Probably one of the most disturbing, disgusting, creepy episodes of the whole series, but especially of the post-Mulder series.

Working my way through Season 6. On the double bill of "Two Brothers/One Son" episodes. So so good. I love when it gets back to the on-going conspiracy stories, the grander scheme of things. You'd rarely find that in a drama show nowadays, they all have such a short shelf life and go for high impact on a short term like Flashforward, for example. This is the reason I love this show so much, it is strung together perfectly (that, and many other reasons of course).

John Doe was just so creepy because of the "where the hell am I" factor, but it was also very intense, very sad, very touching. And one of the lines Doggett says near the end is just completely badass. Great episode.

3rd film script is currently being written. SO happy about that. Duchovny is also more involved and steering in the direction of what he understands fans want which makes me even more excited:
It is in the process of being written. One awaits just the green light from Fox, a little disappointed from the relatively poor reception of the second film. The error comes, in my opinion, that the authors strayed too far from the roots of the series. Moreover, the film was released in the summer. The third will be much closer to what the public expects, with government conspiracies, etc. - David Duchovny

Millennium has a tremendous first season. After that.. it's kind of hit or miss. Some random episodes in season 3 are good. 1 > 2 > 3.

After every episode I watch I'll check out the review from Entertainment Weekly and AV Club. Always interesting to see what others think of them. AV Club gave "Grotesque", which I just watched, an A-. EW's guide gave it a D and I agree with what EW said. Didn't care for that one whatsoever. AV Club wasn't too high on "Syzgy" either which I thought was great.
Ten episodes left in season and it's been the best season so far.

Only interested in the mythological story at this point, only 5 mythological episodes in season 7, already got through them. I'm not sure how I feel about Closure, but for some reason I think it was a great episode.

I watched a few episodes here and there when I was young, but I never followed the show, so I've decided to start watching it now. I just got the first season (and I'm currently downloading the rest too), so I'm pretty excited to watch it.

I love when the series doesn't take itself too seriously, and episodes like "The Unnatural" come out.
is that the one with the black alien baseball player?

Weerd, as much as I love the "monster of the week" episodes, the overall story-arc is great and fascinating. But I don't know, I used to watch it every week when I was younger, but never really digested it .But still, great show, just starting season two and mostly everything at this point has been mythological stories and whatnot.
(I'm assuming that by Mythological you mean monster of the week stuff and not the overall mythology/canon stuff of the X-Files universe, sorry if that's what you meant!)

"Jose Chung's 'From Outer Space'" is a great stand-alone episode of television. I don't like this series as a whole save for a few isolated moments here and there, but Darin Morgan was a strong and creative writer of screenplays. Too bad he never got to fully utilize his talents on more daring shows. I would kind of like it if Vince Gilligan hired him to write an episode of Breaking Bad.
The AV Club's Todd VanDerWerff wrote a great review of "Jose Chung's..." last year. I recommend that everyone reads it, as it unpacks what makes the episode so great: http://www.avclub.com/articles/hell-moneyjose-chungs-from-outer-spaceavatar,44032/

I was wondering if anyone could suggest a list of episodes that I can skip, either for lack of quality or complete lack of anything relating to the main storyline. 202 episodes for a drama series is just way too much for me. Right now I'm on season 2, episode 8.

'Teso Dos Bichos' was awful. Worst episode of the season so far.
I read the little episode synopsis to see what kind of monster of the week episodes I'll be getting and I am really looking forward to "Quagmire" in a few episodes. For the next season though, I'm not going to read anything about them prior.

I think I might've skipped over that one actually.
I'm on "Per Manum" and I think the elevator scene with Mulder might be one of my favorite scenes ever. It just epitomizes the entire relationship between Mulder and Scully.

Two episodes left in season three. Alien arc really dipped away in the second half of this season. Not that I'm real upset since I like the monster episodes but four or so of the first ten episodes are arc heavy.

Ah, you're so close to the "fucked upness" of the episode "Home".
edit: In fact Season 4 has some heavy stuff all through (and one of the best "light-hearted episodes too), really good season.

This isn't about The X-Files per say, but John Shiban, who wrote episodes such as "Memento Mori" and "Field Trip," is in talks with Sony and AMC about developing a science-fiction series tentatively called The Voyage. If it gets picked up, it would be the second series on AMC created by a former writer for The X-Files.

I skipped all of season 9 until "The Truth", and I'm not sure how I feel bout it. Some things might be resolved from actually watching season 9, but here my opinions on it:
1. I always didn't like how they didn't show what happened to Spender after he got shot by CSM, and I guess that was to leave it unresolved to possibly bring him back
2. Spender says Samantha was killed in 1989, I believe that's wayyyyy wrong. What's that about?
3. Why are they rigging the trial? I mean it's not like it's the syndicate or anything. Is it just to cover up the truth?
4. I don't fully understand that blonde girl's character (Maria?) I feel like I'm missing something
5. Was Mulder sending a message telepathically to that little dweeb who can read minds when he took the witness stand?
6. Loved seeing apparitions of Krychek, X, and The Lone Gunmen (Why would you kill those guys off anyway?)
7. I wished CSM was his usual menacing self, instead of just having some casual conversation with him.

Truth, Gillian justs hotter as far as I'm conerned, love her and the roles she chooses. I highly recommend Californication. Whilst the first two seasons beat the latter two, it's still fantastic viewing and Duchovny is superb.
