I love this show. It's like a sweaty version of the Antiques Roadshow.

worst...show...ever!
History Channel used to be about learning.
I could care less about three fatasses that make a living "pawning". These people are dirtier than tax collectors and the premise of the show is to root for them to make money? Its pretty sad that we have to watch this show as entertainment. Never before have I gotten so angry that I turned the television off after such a stupid show. Just watching whatever that fat slob of a son's (he had a nickname like big hoss?) actions I was just appalled. Then there was his friend.
People should be more interested into something with substance. I sure hope history channel does not go the way of TLC and have Jon and Kates running amuck of a good station.
True story is after watching these disgusting slobs, I turned off the tv and went for a run.
/rant....sorry for that, i realize some of you might enjoy it purely as entertainmnet, do not mean to offend any

It's a dog eat dog world. People don't HAVE to pawn it if they don't want to. The shop tells them how much they'll give for it. The owner of the item, the buyer of the item, and everybody else in the world knows that it's a rip-off. If the owner doesn't want to take that amount then they don't have to sell it. It's straight business.
As far as the show goes, I love it. It kind of wants me to own a pawn shop. Just for the fact that I love to learn about stuff. Also, I'd think it'd be a good living.

Love this show. It doesn't make me feel as bad since the people come in voluntarily to sell their stuff (unlike American Picker), but it still pisses me off how some people sell rare, old things for barely anything.

it's interesting. i thought the episode where the guy sold that clock for like $250 because it was "broken" and then it turned out only had two pieces of cork stuck in so it wasnt damaged while traveling and made it's value go up to $1000 dollars was hilarious. the huge fat guy that breaks things all the time and is generally an all around idiot should be fired.

Saw the episode where the guy traded in an old Duke's musket, where the Pawn Store's guy said it was worth $10,000 at an auction, traded it for a $4,000 guitar.

Really great show. I feel like he cheats most of the people but he's pretty nice when they find out that their item isn't worth as much as they thought and he usually gives them something in return.

The episode where the guy brought in this old ejection seat that wasn't even deployed was fucking hilarious. He kept talking about how he would sit in it with his buddies and drink and just use it normally, then when he found out it was still intact and could've "ejected" him through his roof he had the biggest oh shit face. It was awesome.

I watch this show every week. For clarification, Pickers is like this show, not the other way around. I think its funny how they're pretending to be looking at something on the shelves and someone walks up, they turn around and say "can i help you?".
Chumlee and Big Hoss said they grew up together, so they put up with him because hes like another son to Rick. Plus, they do like him, its not like they hate him or anything. Chumlee gets treated exactly like Big Hoss does, which is funny ahha.

Even better is how Rick always says, 'let me call a guy'....as if he has a rolodex of people with nothing better to do than drop what they're doing to then stop by to make him money.

No, no, its always "let me call my buddy...", as if he is friends with all of these experts haha. The worst one was the expert on old clocks and time devises (Monday's episode). Everything went WAY over everyone's head. Its like come on dude, obviously they arent your friends.

^^Hell yea, he is amazing...there was an episode where Rick brings by an old Indian motorcycle but it was just too much to restore. That would have been sweet.
The funniest thing about Pawn Stars though is the JACKED UP lowballing done by Rick, more so than anyone else.

The first two episodes were last week...
Also, I think its funny that this is airing at the same time as Pawn Stars. Talk about direct competition..
This one is a little more realistic, and is more typical when people think of a "pawn shop". That shit on Pawn Stars has to be so few and far between. Still very enjoyable, one of my favorite shows out there, but a little far fetched and staged.
I fucking hate Hardcore Pawn. From the second I saw the name. How ridiculous.
Pawn Stars is awesome though. I love the dude who had the replica gun and he thought it was real. LOL

Yes. I do understand that they're in urban areas. I'm not saying that that's a false interpretation of pawn shops. Our local pawn shop is very similar. I just don't think it makes for great entertainment. Pawn Stars is in Vegas. Some of those pawn shops are 2 and 3 stories. It's a bigger city, therefore more items, equalling better TV

Hardcore Pawn was disappointing. Clearly a 'poor man's' Pawn Star...and the focus on the inside workings of the staff and nutty customers rather than the products as in PS did nothing for me. I'm more interested in the 2 new shows History channel has coming.

The daughter is a straight up dumbass. She should have no say so in the resale of items she knows nothing about. There has only been four episodes and she has done this at least twice; motorcycle and the Jager machine.
Ohh, that gun shop dude was hilarious. That came out of no where big time.

There's a show on A&E that's sort of similiar in terms of quality and style called Storage Wars. Its about buying abandoned storage lockers, and the cast are all interesting guys. Its also void of all the emotional shit that accompanies alot of the PS ripoffs (Hardcore Pawn/American Auction)...
