for the Eagles this off season. to their credit, they have made some moves, and addressed some needs. not a lot, but a little. still, with all the action around the league, it's frustrating to watch other teams improve significantly (on paper) and watch your team stay more or less pat. so when i hear rumors, and that's most likely all they will ever be, that the one move i've been pulling for since the season ended has a tiny sliver of hope, i get excited:
MOULDS PREFERS EAGLES
Although recent reports out of Houston suggest that the Texans are at the lead of the pack in the hunt to strike a deal for Bills receiver Eric Moulds, the Philadelphia Daily News reports that the Texans aren't one of the five teams on Moulds' wish list.
Instead, the teams in which Moulds primarily is interested are the Eagles, Patriots, Seahawks, Chiefs, and Broncos.
And the Eagles are at the top of the totem pole.
"He wants to go to Philadelphia," said Moulds' representative, Greg Johnson. "He really feels he could help them. He loves the idea of being an Eagle and playing with Donovan [McNabb]."
The sticking point won't be the compensation to the Bills, who reportedly want a fourth-rounder, but the compensation to Moulds, who wants a three-year deal averaging $5 million per season.
Moulds is only five months older than Cowboys receiver Terrell Owens, who played for one-and-a-half seasons with the Eagles, and who recently signed a three-year, $25 million contract.
"Right now, the money aspect is out of whack," one NFL general manager told the News. "If he wants to get traded, he's going to have to come to grips that he's not going to get that. Or maybe he will. Maybe there's a team that's willing to pay him that."
In our view, $5 million per year under a salary cap that's at $102 million and rising isn't much to spend on a guy whose production was still solid in 2005, even though his team's quarterback play, well, wasn't.

i have...trust me. it's awful watching them let their main pieces go without replacing them.
still, the Pats were good last year and are still in a semi-weak division. the Eagles division has been improving steadily and now is going nuts trying to one up each other, and the Eagles (who finished last) seem a little too content with what they have.

lets be honest. the pats made the playoffs by virtue of their weak ass schedule. could they have beat greater teams? maybe, but the track record wasnt very good last season.
this season is shaping up to be a fucking disaster.

they had what many were calling the hardest 6 games to open a season in history.
i do agree with the second part though, if they do well this year bellichick needs to go into the hall immediately.

i know they're still high on pinkston...but i really wish mcmullen had panned out, he has the body of a really good possession receiver.

i've heard two things.
1) some sort of 3 way deal with the bills and texans might send either moulds or dominick davis to philly
2) nothing will happen and reggie brown will stay #1 in philly
the more i think about this deal, the more frustrated i get. i understand javon walker not coming here. they're asking for a 1st round pick and the guy had a bad knee injury he hasn't proven he's recovered from.
but moulds is still a very competant receiver. he desperately wants to be in philly. the bills are only asking for either hollis thomas (who the eagles were looking to ship anyway) or a 4th round pick (and the Eagles have a ton of picks). on top of that, moulds is getting 15 million over 3 years. is that really too much for a team that has an insane surplus of cap room? i'm not even talking about staying safely under for the draft, or even below that for the future. they have a ton of money they can spend this year that doesn't roll over, so there's no logical point to hold onto it unless lurie is suddenly cash strapped.
i like the gaffney deal a whole lot more if it becomes gaffney or reggie brown as the 3rd receiver. that will give the team a very legitimate receiver threat with a proven #1 leading the way. if they don't get this thing done i think they're banking too much on hope and i'll be really pissed.

moulds looks like he'll be traded within 24 hours.
the texans and eagles are the leading teams, and it sounds like the texans have the inside track because they've agreed to moulds' contract, whereas the eagles are only committed to the trade part.
if the eagles miss this change i'm going to be pissed, as you might expect from the fact that i am keeping this thread alive to vent.
i hope we get moulds then at least we would have a respectable recieving corps not just a bunch of question marks

wow i think i would take davis over moulds, we have won with shittier receivers, and we haven't had a dominant run game since the year before duce left
