The following is a mini interview of generic questions that we posed to all bands that wanted to answer:

The Starlight Getaway - (Tyler) [myspace (http://www.myspace.com/thestarlightgetaway)] [ap.net profile (http://www.absolutepunk.net/artists/showlink.php?l=9702)]

1. How did you get your band name?
Our old guitarist ended up picking it after we were known shortly by other names. I like to think of it as something you could see on a billboard down here in Florida, "Relax, on your very own starlight getaway!"

2. How did this band get started?
Well, it started as another band called Public School Casualty like 3-4 years ago with just Erik, Christian and J Tyler, but it wasn't until about a year ago that synth and another guitarist were added....and i've since replaced J Tyler. My name is also Tyler, so it's easy, haha.

3. What bands are you influenced by?
We're all influenced by different things...like Christian's into Say Anything, Heavy Heavy Low Low sometimes, and like Erik loves Relient K and The Matches, and we all love Fall Out Boy, Four Year Strong, Motion City Soundtrack, stuff like that.

4. If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would it be and why?
I'd love to tour with All Time Low, since they seem like really fun dudes... um, Fall Out Boy for pretty much the same reason.... and I think it'd be sweet to tour with like Bad Religion, Midtown or You, Me, and Everyone We Know. I know, it's a random list.

5. If you were a furry, what animal would you be? Why that animal?
Probably a Chinchilla, since they're fucking soft as fuck and adorable.

6. Why should people listen to your band?
Because, we put everything into what we do, from making our own lights setup, to booking our tours and spending every night talking online to fans until 3 am. Christian writes some pretty amazing lyrics, and every bit of it is from the heart, rather than some catchy fluff that's easy to sing along to. We aren't interested in quick success, and know what work needs to be done to build a real following. We'd like to be, though we're young, respected for our work ethic and dedication and we don't want to be brushed off as another powerpop band that "likes to party!" and wastes away the dawn of their career, forever being branded as a band you can't take seriously.

7. If you were chosen to be in Guitar Hero/Rock Band, what song would you want in the game? How hard do you think it would be to five-star on expert?
um probably "Fast Cars", and I'm pretty sure it'd be easy but great fun to play.

8. If you won a Grammy, who would you thank?
I'd thank my bandmates, personally because without each other, the band wouldn't be there at all in the first place.

9. If you could change something about the music industry, what would it be?
Basically the instant gratification aspect of it. But that's just the way things work I guess. I think that the bands or artists that will sell the most overall, with the way things are now with people not buying much music, are the ones with fans that'll always be there to support them on tour, etc.

10. Memorable tour experience?
Just staying at fan's houses every night, it's so much fun getting to know the people that love your music and just trading stories.

11. What does AP.net mean to you?
It's where I get all my music and entertainment news, as well as the place where I find new bands to listen to.

12. What is your favorite song to play?
I love playing "Space Mystery at the Frontier Goldmill!" and "It's Not a Metaphor"

13. What is your vacation spot of choice?
Right here in Florida. Nothing beats the Cocoa Beach area.

14. What music reminds you of your childhood?
Probably Barenaked Ladies, and "superman" by Goldfinger from the first Tony Hawk. haha well that was more of a middle school time...

15. If you could have any super power, what would it be? Why?
Probably Time Travel, cause there are so many things I wish I could see about the future.

16. Do you feel that your band has "made it"?
Every time we play a show out of town and have people that know the words or that buy merch, I feel in a way that we've made it. Heck, when we hop onto bigger shows, and people talk to us thinking as if we're actually on that tour, I think we've made it. Basically, I'll keep feeling that way at every level even up to getting signed because everything will be a new and exciting experience that I would've only dreamed of doing when I started guitar in 5th grade.

17. What is something that most fans don't know about you?
We are a goofy group of guys, but we treat every aspect of what we do with meetings and planning. We also listen to the weirdest music for a band in our genre, such as Stick To Your Guns, and Maylene, as well as like, The Spice Girls or Third Eye Blind. Personally, I love Jason Mraz.

18. What's your favorite holiday?
I'd say Christmas. I love the cheesy commercials, movies, everything.

19. What do you like to do in your spare time?
I add people on myspace, and edit film that we've taken on tour. Basically, I just keep doing band stuff, or thinking up new things for us to do. I also record other bands, and play some Video Games somewhere in there.

20. What kind of hidden talents do you have?
Erik builds things. He built his drum box/case thing, and our pressure sensitive light boxes that we use on stage. Ben does a sweet Owen Wilson impression, and I film short movies and things.
