my recommendation would be something with bestbuy, if there was anyway you could do something in the media section or somekind of instore radio advertisement ( "check out this new artist at absolutepunk.net") it would be well worth the investment

That'd be really cool .. I want to work out some way to promote a few of the "staple AP.net bands" and AP.net at the same time on a few "BIG" targets. Get people to check out the music we provide, and hopefully stay for our forums/journals/news/etc.

Yeah Tate, I've seen AP.net logos on some CDs we sell at work. And I agree with the Warped Tour thing, maybe not have your own tent, put partner with someone and get your name on everything possible, it'll be splendid.

Jason, A somewhat good thing to do, and i don't know if you've already thought of this, is make a printable flyer that people could put up at their schools. Also magazine ad's wouldn't be too bad of an idea, I know that they cost a bit of money but people around here would be willing to help i'm sure, seeing as how everyone uses the site for free.

Im an advertising major and im sure there are others on this site. Maybe there could be some sort of competition to make the best campaign. If we are going to go to the mainstream like best buy and all, the slogan "music mends broken hearts" might cut us off from too many people who just write the site of as another "emo place". Im not saying change the slogan, but maybe a contest to see who can come up with a good one liner slogan or motto that people remember. For example, how many people still know the song for the Big Mac. If we could think of something really catchy, the world will be ours.

i had a tent at warped tour 2 years ago. i gave out thousands of free cds, stickers, and posters, had a raffle for a bunch of autographed stuff, and sold a bunch of shirts. also had silverstein and halifax do an autograph signing at the booth. it was really fun and gained tons of popularity for my site. but then some asshole stole all the money we earned at the end of the night and it ended up being a big loss of money for me, thus quickly bringing us to a downfall.
