Save Mart Center in Fresno, Ca. It usually gets the big shows, but as far as most bands discussed here on AP.net, it has to be The Dome in Bakersfield, CA.

For REALLY good shows, I can drive 3 hours to The House of Blues on the Sunset Strip.

I just wish all of this had been at The Social over the summer haha, now I have to work out going home from school to see stuff (bought my Thursday ticket this morning though haha), because it's just much more fun seeing bands at home lol. I might go to the AP fall tour at HOB as well as see SYG tomorrow haha.

true but kinda far from me

I'm even further from it than you are... it really isn't that far at all. I mean, it's in Downtown, which is pretty easy to you (compared to me).

I mainly said clubhouse due to location.

Never even heard of those other venues he mentioned.

The Ottobar in Baltimore is my new favorite.

I like Rams Head in Baltimore and The Black Cat in DC, as well.

Ottobar is my favorite too.

PORTLAND, OR =

- Hawthorne Theatre = Holds tours like August Burns Red's fall headliner, etc.
- Roseland Theatre = Holds tours like Taste of Chaos, Atreyu, Brand New, Thursday, etc.
- Satyricon (most likely to help you out) = Has smaller shows like Dr.Acula or Abigail Williams, but has big tours a few times a year, Gig Life (FYS/SYG) is coming, BMTH/MisSigs/TGI played last December to a well sold out crowd.

Southgate House in Newport (technically in Lesser Cincinnati) brings in some great bands, and I like the atmosphere, but I hear that Art Damage Lodge in Cincy has some pretty amazing avant-garde, experimental shows. Bogart's is everyone's favorite, and I've seen some good shows at the Madison Theatre.

All in Asheville, NC:
The Orange Peel.
We've had Motion City Soundtrack, Hawthorne Heights, The Color Fred, Anberlin, Madina Lake, Butch Walker, Switchfoot, Ben Folds... (I could go on for awhile)
Oh, and the Smashing Pumpkins played there nine nights in a row. And apparently Bob Dylan played there at some point. And, uh, Beastie Boys... But yeah. It's pretty cool. Friendly staff too.
The Asheville Civic Center is pretty lame, but the Decemberists are playing there. IDK if that's good or bad.
The Grey Eagle is pretty nice too, good atmosphere. Not many major bands stop there though. Fiction Family was there a couple months ago, so that was cool.

The Grog Shop in Cleveland Heights is probably my favorite venue around here to catch a show and despite the fact that it's small they're always bringing in top notch bands. I saw Conor Oberst and Brand New in the same week there last month.
Backed so fucking hard. No barricade, low stage, and a lot of great bands. The room is small and intimate, and I've seen some of my favorite shows there. As a local band in Cleveland, you haven't made it in that city until you've played that stage to a full house.

I'll also throw out Agora Ballroom in Cleveland as well. Again, no barricade and a wide open floor make for some absolutely wonderful shows there. Lots of top name AP bands have played on that stage, and when it's a packed house, it's something special. Add that to the $1 service charge for buying tickets in person as opposed to Ticketmaster and the attached Agora Theatre (a simply legendary venue in Cleveland that has played host to some amazing shows), and the Agora complex is truly one of the last of it's kind in Cleveland. If and when that place finally shuts its doors, part of me will die with it.

Seriously - any band in Northeast Ohio, playing the Agora and Grog is a rite of passage. You're not a real band until you've made the walls sweat at Agora or hung from the rafters at the Grog.

A few do but most bands featured on this site do Tremont and the Cradle. Although, ever since LiveNation started taking over the industry, there's some random venue that's really the fuck out of the way that gets a lot of big shows. Brand New is playing there this fall.

guess you're talking about the fillmore. I've heard it's pretty nice.

Not my home town but a place in Bakersfield called Jerry's Pizza & Pub. I went to some great shows there but they haven't had any good shows in a while. I used to love going there because RIGHT when you enter to your left they have stairs that go down to the venue part of place and when you get down there it's really small and intimate and it's nothing but brick and concrete and the stage is just like 3 inches tall.

They've also got some great fuckin pizza.
