I don't know why I'm bothering on making a poll at 3 in the morning, but here goes..
Which one of these songs is the best closing song ever?
VIVALAMATT
08/09/09, 01:30 AM
As much as I wanted to say A Day In The Life, I remembered how epic and perfect Staying Alive is.
VIVALAMATT
08/09/09, 01:32 AM
Though 23 and Knights of Cydonia are also great choices.
Damn this is a good poll.
Incredibly difficult; I picked Hurt, though.
Ugh I could have picked like 7 of these haha.

Damn so many of these are good. Could easily pick practically any of these but I'm going to go with Hurt.

Tough choice between 'Hurt' and '23'. Finally decided on '23' but I'd have a difficult time explaining why.
Other great album-enders:
Cartel - 'A'
Copeland - 'Not So Tough Found Out'
The Early November - "Everythings Too Cold... But You're So Hot'
Girl Talk - 'Play Your Part (Pt. 2)'
Incubus - 'Aqueous Transmission'
Northstar - 'Rocket City'
Taking Back Sunday - 'Slowdance On The Inside''
Our Lady Peace - 'The Wonderful Future'

electric president- farewell (s/t)
counting crows- st. robinson in his cadillac dream (this desert life)
dear and the headlights- i know (drunk like bible times)
annuals- wake (such fun)
songs that should have been the final track but for some reason have been put as the penultimate track
mewithoutYou- the king beetle on a coconut estate (it's all crazy! it's all false! it's all a dream! it's alright.)
death cab for cutie- brothers on a hotel bed (plans)

Wow, I'm surprised 23 is winning..I almost didn't even include them in the poll. I wanted to include some Radiohead closers but for some reason the only ones I like are "Blow Out" and "Videotape" and I didn't want to have more then ten songs on here so..
A Day In The Life though is way too incredible for me, I can only bring myself to listen to it about 5 times a year.

You missed some great Thrice album closers:
Thrice - Child Of Dust
Thrice - Red Sky
The choices make it difficult for me. If I pick which one I personally like the best, it's 23 by Jimmy Eat World. But I can't honestly say that it's better than a Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin song, it's just more my style.

So still no love for Tool or Led Zeppelin? Tool is to be expected..but not Led Zeppelin! I'm surprised how Play Crack The Sky made its way up to a very close runner-up..but it's Brand New so maybe I'm not THAT surprised.

What! "Motion Picture Soundtrack" is perfect, and alongside the rest of the album is an epic conclusion to Kid A... the "rebirth" at the end is absolutely sublime.
it's funny... the only two Radiohead closures I am unsatisfied with are the only two you like...

I agree that Motion Picture Soundtrack is a perfect closer for KID A..especially the rebirth at the end. A Wolf At The Door is another good closer that I forgot to mention..and Street Spirit..hell they're all good (Except I wasn't feeling Life In A Glasshouse as a GREAT closing song) it's just that..I dunno, maybe I should have included at least one of them.

Aenima is such a great album, every song on it is classic. however, a lot of people probably haven't heard Third Eye because it wasn't a single and they may balk at the fact that it's 13+ minutes long... great beginning with Bill Hicks and if you're patient with the track it really is something special.

Also, it baffles me that anyone could put down 23. I know it's "cool" to be against the grain on this site and online in general, but c'mon, it's fucking 23. And yes, I know music is subjective. BUT IT'S 23. How can that song not hit your core?

Definetly! I would have liked to include that in the poll but I know not many people would have voted for them..but I guess it might have gotten more votes then Tool. Lights & Sounds is a very underrated album! I went through so much shit when that cd came out, visiting this girl in Michigan and getting in a car crash..and her coming down to see me afterwards and HER getting in a car crash, insane times and that album was the soundtrack. Love that song though, and How I Go too..and all the other ones.

I hope everyone who votes in this poll listens to all these albums all the way through and hears their respective finales before they make a decision. Hey wait a minute; Knights Of Cydonia - Muse (Black Holes & Revelations) ISNT the last song on the album.
Glorious is. Bonus track. agreed. but i hate this song live everytime i see them ME TOO. It's not Trent's fault though (he does it perfectly imo) - it's the crowd's. At all the NIN shows I've been to Hurt always becomes a fucking singalong, people start clapping and cheering and shit and the song sounds much less meaningful. What's your problem with it? I'm curious.
