Google Toolbar has a new beta version (http://toolbar.google.com/T4/), and along with that comes the ability to add "buttons" to your toolbar. Well, AP.net has it's very own "button" that will show the latest news headlines as well as take you directly here with one click. Click here (http://toolbar.google.com/buttons/add?url=http://www.absolutepunk.net/absolute_button.xml) to install it.

What do you mean? You should be able to just use the AP RSS feed (www.absolutepunk.net/rss (http://www.absolutepunk.net/rss)) to grab news headlines for firefox.

Right I have that, i thought you were talking about something else. There is this thing on firefox on the right top cornor thats a dropdown of serch engines/lyrics sites for quick searching instead of having to go to that site. Mabe if you made an AP.net one you could search for artist news with it.. or something.

I'd need a link to their API or something to see how they do it ...

Whats API?
1) You don't "technically" need FireFox's "API" to create a search bar plugin.. it's a simple text script. I was considering writing a search plugin for the album art site, maybe I'll write one for this site if no one else wants to.. though it's not as big a deal, since I never search the news and havent looked at how this site actually performs searches.

2) Quick Wiki: An application programming interface (API) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Application_programming_interface) is the interface (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interface_%28computer_science%29) that a computer system, library or application provides in order to allow requests for service to be made of it by other computer programs, and/or to allow data to be exchanged between them.

I know the problem you used firefoxes "add on automatically" feature from my link rel script in the code, let me change that .. and then if you uninstall, reinstall it .. you'll be fine.

Edit: Fixed the code on my end, readd the feed and you should be fine.

Second, man your font's big .. totally asses with my layout. O well.

https://addons.mozilla.org/search-engines.php

Check out some simple ones and see what's going on... see if there's any for sites similar to how your's searches, in which case it will be easy to modify. That's the easy solution.

The complicated solution is to check out their resource on how to make your own.

The Google Search Bar used to fucking own.

They then turned it into bloatware known as Google Deskbar.

I then found this: http://www.dqsd.net/ , can't recommend it enough. Doesn't have the onfocus bugs of Google, either!

Fixed? You gotta make sure it's using the right URL for the feed, the old feed was for the entire site's RSS .. if you use www.absolutepunk.net/rss (http://www.absolutepunk.net/rss) - you'll get just the news.
