I've been enchanted by Noir's 2005 album, Tower of Love.

From Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Noir
Noir's music has been described as psychedelic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychedelic) pop (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pop_music) electronica (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronica) with simplistic, often repetitive lyrics and compared to The Beach Boys (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Beach_Boys), Super Furry Animals (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Furry_Animals), The Beta Band (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Beta_Band), The Bees (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Bees_%28UK_band%29) and fellow Mancunian Badly Drawn Boy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Badly_Drawn_Boy). He is also known for a slightly eccentric (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eccentricity_%28behavior%29) dress sense, frequently appearing in a bowler hat (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bowler_hat). Noir is a multi-instrumentalist (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multi-instrumentalist), playing all the instruments on his work.[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Noir#cite_note-0) However, he uses a band (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Band_%28music%29) at performances.

Sounds good, definitely a Beach Boys vibe in there.

Most definitely. His music is very pastiche. There's a strong sense of '60s British mod scene, ala' The Kinks, especially in the first album.

His self-titled is on sordo so I'll start with that I suppose.

edit: found Tower of Love, too.

The self-titled from last year is pretty good. I just favor the first release because I've listened to it the most.

I enjoy his self-titled, although I haven't listened to that or Tower of Love nearly enough.

It's pretty solid stuff, a bit more ethereal with the production.

Listening to the myspace now, and 'Map' is delicious. Definitely got that 60s production going on, instruments hard panned.
