The following is a mini interview of generic questions that we posed to all bands that wanted to answer:

Therefore I Am - (Brian) [myspace (http://www.myspace.com/thereforeiam)] [ap.net profile (http://www.absolutepunk.net/artists/showlink.php?l=3709)] [website (http://www.thereforeiamrock.com)]

1. How did you get your band name?
Before I was in the band the guys came up with the idea to name the band Therefore I Am simply because they liked the way it sounded. Beyond that I'd like to think it's meaning has become kind of self-fulfilling. Creating music, traveling, meeting people, making friends is who we are and what we exist for. It also incorporates the crowd as a sort of unifying theme. Living in the moment, taking things for face value. This is it.

2. How did this band get started?
Like most bands start, friends inspired by the bands they grew up listening to getting together and making a lot of noise until the noise sounded decent enough for other people to hear or at least friends to tolerate haha and it grew from there. I joined in 2006 and the band started in 2004.

3. What bands are you influenced by?
I could get very complicated about this and give a timeline and all that but these are some bands that have meant a lot to me for one reason or another: Muse, Stone Temple Pilots, Faith No More, Guns N' Roses, Metallica (pre-load), Nirvana, Incubus, Primus, Cave In, Converge, Deadguy, Botch, Snapcase, Boysetsfire, Ben Folds Five, Beck, Bjork, Fiona Apple, Dillinger Escape Plan, Nine Inch Nails, Radiohead, Glassjaw, Alice in Chains, 311, Rage Against the Machine.

4. If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would it be and why?
Metallica circa 1986 on the Ozzy tour because it would be fucking awesome. Period.

5. If you were a furry, what animal would you be? Why that animal?
A furry? Isn't that when you dress up in an animal costume and have sex or get off to it? I'm all set, I'm hairy enough and a bear as it is.

6. Why should people listen to your band?
Because you'll have a good time and become a better person.

7. If you were chosen to be in Guitar Hero/Rock Band, what song would you want in the game? How hard do you think it would be to five-star on expert?
You and No Other. It'd be pretty hard on Guitar Hero, fast riffage d00d!

8. If you won a Grammy, who would you thank?
My mom.

9. If you could change something about the music industry, what would it be?
Give it a $700 billion dollar bailout package to empower musicians and independent labels rather than shareholders!

10. Memorable tour experience?
A fond memory was when we arrived at a show in Baton Rouge, LA after a 12 hour drive only to find out that nobody was at the show and it wasn't promoted because the other bands playing on the bill only have shows so they can practice since they can't afford a practice space…so with this delightful news someone recommended we go to this other bar for open mic if we still wanted to play. We went figuring we'd just drink away our sorrows. We showed up to this redneck bar and a band was playing and we decided to give it a shot for shits and giggles. The band let us use some of their gear and we played 3 songs on a tiny corner stage and people were pretty impressed. One older woman was so impressed she sold the rest of her pack of cigarettes to the bartender to get enough money to buy our cd…we find ourselves in these situations a lot and somehow they always turn around.

11. What does AP.net mean to you?
It's where I get all my music news throughout the day and gives me cool or funny things and bands to check out when I'm bored at my office job!

12. What is your favorite song to play?
You and No Other. I just like to freak out haha.

13. What is your vacation spot of choice?
Anywhere I can't get cell reception or internet and is close to a body of water.

14. What music reminds you of your childhood?
Grunge and care-free fun-loving 90's music. Those were the good ol' days!

15. If you could have any super power, what would it be? Why?
My super power would be to teleport because I love to travel and it would cut out all the travel time.

16. Do you feel that your band has "made it"?
Considering I'm writing this at my 9-5 office job, I'd say no in the traditional sense. But I do consider myself very fortunate and grateful to get to do what I do even if it doesn't pay the bills yet.

17. What is something that most fans don't know about you?
I rode a bicycle across the United States and I have a scar on my left testicle from a later tricycle accident.

18. What's your favorite holiday?
The 4th of July. I love fireworks and pretty much anything that burns or makes noise or is dangerous and not and overall good idea.

19. What do you like to do in your spare time?
Hang with my girlfriend, friends and watch movies or go bowling.

20. What kind of hidden talents do you have?
I am an expert at claw machine games. You know the ones with the claw that drops down and grabs a toy. I'm unstoppable.

One of the most legit bands around.
Really hope Warped Tour gives them a push.. It looks like it already has.
