My review (http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?t=124940) for Anathallo (http://www.anathallo.com) - Floating World is up. You should buy it (http://www.anathallo.com/store/) right now. I've never been more serious in my life.

How many 10/10's were there last year? I remember Jason gave In Motion a 10.

Great band, great album, great guys. I've been waiting for this album since 2004 (http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?t=51554) and I couldn't be any more satisfied.

I'm not a fan of these guys. I saw them open up for Dashboard, and they started the show off real cool, but lost everyone after that. I think they have way too much going on in their songs and they are to clever for their own good.

based on your band, I wouldn't expect you to be a fan either

Well bro I like a lot of differnt artists. More than you probably. I was in to them a bit, but then they lost me. I'm open to all kinds of music. Just because I'm in a band that has a kid who screams in it doesn't mean I don't like differnt music.

I'll show you a post I made in another thread, and it applies to this band, and a lot of music listeners:
-------

The problem with most music listeners now: THEY HAVE A.D.D. and can't bare more then 30 seconds without vocal melody (not saying that's the case with you, but just saying in general). To me, 4 minutes of total instrumentals kicks ass and hits me harder then 4 minutes of constant vocal melody does. I don't need Intro, Verse, Chorus, Verse, Chorus, Breakdown, Chorus, to stay interested in a song, I just need emotion and feeling. I'm sick of people ONLY latching onto bands that have pop-punk/catchy hooks and lyrics about broken hearts-- those types of music listeners are the reason why timeless artist are relatively non existant in today's mainstream. I can only dream of a day where true innovation and creativity is accepted by the general public, until then Anathallo will remain relatively unheard of...

I actualy enjoyed a lot of ideas they had, but I think they were too scattered around in their songs. Their vocals were beautiful. Sounded like church choir. Just wasn't my thing. I think I may give their songs a spin or too to see how they are on CD.

You've got some good points in that statement. I agree that sometimes you have to have some patience to let the music hit you or really see what its offering.

I dont think JohnnyG said anything out of line though, everyone has their own taste in music.

i definitely enjoy this album. but i have to be in the mood for it. like frank said.. some people have ADD and can't sit still through minutes of instrumental arrangements. see, i can sit through it...if i'm in that "mood". but of course, there will be times where i will need something upbeat, fast paced and everything (enter new found glory, cartel, this providence). i'm all for different moods... but people should learn to be able to appreciate such beautiful music as this band.

No, I wasnt targetting JohnnyG at all, just putting the statement out there.

I'm so glad someone reviewed this, Floating World is easily the best cd of 2006 so far and one of the best cds i've heard in quite some time. These guys are brilliant.....

alright... as long as you aren't claiming this as best of the year no matter what... then cool. there are always bands who come out of nowhere and suprise...

applause. anyone who tries to claim anathallo is anything short of absolutely amazing and beautiful is certainly a victim of what you mentioned. such a great great group of people.

I'm not really into these guys. I've given them a couple of chances because people on here absolutely love them and talk about them all the time, but it just never got my attention. If it had, I would assume it would've kept my attention, but there was never anything in there to keep me staying on their purevolume long enough. I'd rather listen to Margot and the Nuclear So and So's (http://www.myspace.com/margotandthenuclearsoandsos). They re-released their album this Tuesday, and now it should be more readily available. Everyone should at least give them a shot. The end.

I'm gonna have to check this out. There have been some damn good CDs out this year if you ask me, so to say this is above and beyond the best thus far, that says a lot. So I definitely have to take a listen.

I used to really hate these guys, I'm not a fan of any sort of horn instrument at all (unless it be classical music)

But, I recently listened to this band again to see if my mind would change, and I must say, it has. I still, however, would only give this album about a 6 or 7 of 10.
