View Full Version : What are the pop-punk "Must Have"s?
I grew up (well, I'm still growing up but, you know what I mean) on blink-182, GreenDay and New Found Glory.
I've only recently fallen in love with Fall Out Boy's Take This To Your Grave and I was wondering what the other "Must Have"s are that I'm missing out on.

It might not be considered a "must have," but, Adelphi's Walking On the Ceiling of the Sky is great. Also, Best Interest's Camera Shy But Still A Star is good.

really, you think it's harder? cause that's why i was hesitant to include it, i thought it was a little softer overall. some of the guitar parts were really hard rocking for that style of music, but the vocals were softer than your average pop punk.
btw i love bon iver's stuff, so kudos to you.
the movielife - has a gambling problem
I would say This Time Next Year is a better release, but I guess HAGP is more traditional pop-punk in terms of the other bands you listed.

See I do know exactly what you mean, the vocals are a lot softer, but I think you can really hear their NY hardcore influences especially in that record. That's why I would think it's harder hmm.
Bon Iver is rad, my big sister really got me into him. I wanna get For Emma on vinyl.

Green Day and Blink 182 started it all for me, but from there the following albums opened my eyes:
Alkaline Trio - From Here to the Infirmary
The Ataris - Blue Skies and Broken Hearts
Bayside - S/T
Brand New - Your Favorite Weapon
Dashboard Confessional - Swiss Army Romance
Death Cab for Cutie - Transatlanticsm

New Found Glory - S/T
Pennywise - Full Circle

Say Anything - ...Is A Real Boy
Silverstein - When Broken is Easily Fixed
The Starting Line - Say it Like You Mean It
Something Corporate - Leaving Through the Window
Taking Back Sunday - Tell All Your Friends
Thrice - The Artist in the Ambulance
Underoath - They're Only Chasing Safety
Now, obviously some of these have already been mentioned. And obviously some of the bands have come out with releases that are superior/inferior than what I've listed. But these are just the albums that I came across after I was a piece of shit 12 year old hearing "Basket Case" for the first time...the ones that really influenced the direction that my musical tastes went in.
I put the ones that I feel are a must own in bold...hope this helps.
