Maybe this isnt directed to the whole world...? Obviously it is directed to the people who know they have a cd coming out sometime and who are actually interested since it is written in Shaants journal...
Its to the people waiting for the release and they are just trying to get them excited. It doesnt mean they have a big ego.

I've heard so much shit about this band.... And I thought it was just the usual message board type "I am cool so I don't like this because everyone else will love it" kind of talk that goes on every time AVA are mentioned.

Well.. I decided to take a listen to them.... and it is so mediocre. Don't get me wrong, I don't like slating bands, from being in a band I know that not many bands deserve slating as most work their asses off, but these guys seem so pretentious. I am sure outside of the band they're nice guys, but they act like every single person is pissing their pants waiting to hear the name of their new album.

The music is bog standard stuff you could find about 80% of the local bands in your city playing and the vocals are average at best. I cannot see the appeal if these guys are as hyped as they appear to be. Hype bands usually live up to it even if it's just for 5 minutes - e.g Panic! At The Disco.

I tried to give them an honest chance without thinking about all the hype and hate, but... nah... As I said these guys are no better than 80% of local bands working their asses off every night.

It seems to me that they should stop thinking about their appearance and what cool photos they can take and merch they can make and concentrate on improving the music.

thats ur opinion. i dont hate the dudes. but the many times ive seen them live here surrounded by majority of 12 year olds (do you really want to argue that and also argue that they are good music critics), they generally have been horriably sloppy, shannt voices is straight through his nose, and yea. i mean they didnt get signed b/c of their live show.

they're a marketable band. and thats what they are doing the best so far. marketing.


shannts is a nice guy, but everyone can be any character that they want to be. what does that matter when it comes to the money and whos calling the shots. theyve also have had alot of money along the way to help them to get where they are. and this is a music site. why keep on getting into, "oh there nice. or oh there dicks." who cares.

as far as them writing their own songs...i dont think anyone really knows, but for it to consantly come up again and again. you have to wonder. i dont think anyone wants to outright hate a band for no reason. esp and upcoming act on a label many people like. its all to sketchy, but you must agree with me. that they are marketable to the TRL fan base and that = dollar signs. and where dollar signs are well bigge said it best "mo money, mo problems." ha.

alright, so they're nothing amazing....
neither is my music and neither is most music.
they're catchy and generally fun. that's a pretty good start for success if you ask me.

Considering that it was posted in Shaant's journal, I don't think this whole "mystery" thing was meant for everyone... it's meant for their fans, the people who read Shaant's journal. also this is an awesome marketing idea whether you like the music/band or not...it keeps the fans interested and continuously coming back to the bands website. it creates publicity and drives up repeat hits on the website. stuff that marketing is meant for.
