View Full Version : Movies you seem to be the only one hating
This is in response to the previous thread someone made about movies that you seem to be the only one who likes it. Well I decided to post this thread because there are so many movies that EVERYONE seems to love and there's always one person who hates it. We've all had it happen to us. So here it goes, what movie do you guys hate that EVERYONE else seems to love?
For me this is no question. It's definitely Napolean Dynamite. Everyone raved about this last year and it became one of the most quoted movies all of last year in my opinion. But to me, this movie is pathetic. It's not funny at all and has no plot. Some people will argue that 'that's the beauty of it, being about nothing' but that's ridiculous and you know it. This movie is a complete waste of time.

I like that movie. But I think I remember you saying that you predicted the twist early on, so I could see how that could ruin it for ya.
I thought I was the only one that hated Napolean Dynamite. Seriously, Monty Python's "And Now For Something Completely Different" was a pointless movie that was funny. That movie just wasted an hour and a half of my life.

Personally I don't like Will Ferrel in anything he is a lead role in. I liked him in the 2nd Austin Powers and in Wedding Crashers, but when he stars in a movie, he just fucks it up.

like one major problem i have with it is it includes that cliche scene where the husband wife get in a fight, he hits her, she hits him, they start rolling around in a ball punching and kicking...and ten seconds later theyre still tangled up in each others arms but making out. among other things

I still enjoy this movie but I didn't love it simply because I figured out the twist quite early into the movie. Also, the movie is like split up into two completely different parts - 'Fight Club' and 'Project Mayhem'. The movie just completely changes about halfway through.

I'm on the fence on [A History of Violence]. i thought the action scenes were cool, but many of the things that happen are either strange or just make no sense.
As someone, somewhere, once said, the problem with the movie is that it masquerades as a really deep concept about the nature of violence in society itself, contained within the narrative of one man's story (a concept that the critics ate up)...when in actuality it's a good narrative with a rather weak premise. That and the weird homosexual/incestual tension kind of just made it...eh in my book.
As for movies I'm not fond of: Billy Madison.

But as for the anti-anime, Vampire Hunter D and it's sequel > any other horror movie in the past 25 years.

If you watch one of the special features on the DVD, one of the writers comments on the fact that there is no character to 'lead you through the story' in a positive manner. They did that for a concsious reason so that it shows that racism affects us all.

"Crash" is a poor man's traffic or a stupid mans 'Syriana'.
It is so heavy handed and increadibly over rated. There is no subtlty in that movie, they just paint every character with the racist tag.
Not awful, but average at best
My number one complaint when people ask why I didn't like it. If the language was toned down, it'd feel more like an after school special than an Oscar winner.
This thread was made specifically for me to say
A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE
I hate this movie. so much. that it makes me violently ill.
This sprung to mind right away. Also any movie with "Spider-Man" in the title.

This movie is a complete waste of time.
transformers...dunno why so many people simply ADORED it. i slept...i swear!! i never slept during an action, blockbuster movie...but that made me sleep. I just hate, hate Michael Bay for the lame director he is and for the stupid person he is.
in the other hand, i loved hulk and everyone i know seemed to hate it.

Yeah, it got real repetitive to me real quick. There is no dialogue, just f words (I don't mind the f word, but I like it to be coherent). The acting and soundtrack are also subpar. Also, Willem Dafoe as a tranny? really?
