with all this talk about morrissey and the smiths lately, here's a question...

who do u think is/was better?

Morrissey is amazing, but the whole is almost always better than the solo project. I say The Smiths.

It's a poor comparison, but inevitable. Morrissey's solo career eclipses the Smiths' in terms of both length and song count. The Smiths had a higher quality output, in terms of countless great songs over seven years, but Morrissey has released just as many good songs, only over a longer period of time.

Overall, I think I might have to go with Morrissey solo, if only for the fact that his voice has only gotten better, but don't hold me to that.

I can't believe anyone actually voted for Morrissey's solo stuff. The Smiths are one of the greatest bands and Morrissey hasn't reached that on his own.
