1984 is amazing. Getting someone to tell you what it's about takes so much from the book. Read it. Prepare to be confused, sad, and insanely angry. But you definitely won't regret reading it.

Why thank you.

It means more coming from a cute girl.

Plus, you remind me of P.O.D.'s Charger Anthem

It was one of the better books that I've had to read for school. It's essentially about the dangers of a totalitarian government.

San Diego Super Chargers song > P.O.D.'s Charger Anthem, but the latter is still awesome. It makes me happy that you know the Charger Anthem!

It's about some kid who is the leader of a gang, and they all wear bowler derby hats and cod pieces and beat the shit out of old people. Then his "droogies" turn on him, and he gets arrested and experimented upon by the government. Later......wait....wrong book, never mind.

The dumbest fucking synopsis of this book ever, congratulations on being a fucking putz.

The end isn't depressing so much as it is frightening.

Thank you for being intelligent.

1984 is all about Erasure and The Outsiders.

People who tell you it was a good year are full of lies.

And I agree with it being more frightening than depressing.

Should I waste my time coming down to a Whale's Vagina sometime? I mean, Fight Fair thinks so, but give me reasons.

I'm way late on reading this book, having just read it a couple weeks ago. But, it's definitely an interesting read. I highly recommend it.

Movie Trailer Narrator: "It's 1984. Winston Smith... lives within a totalitarian system. Winston Smith... has questions, and, he needs answers. Watch Winston Smith get in all sorts of antics with... The Party! And, follow him when he finds, for the first time in his life, true love! George Orwell's 1984 is a non-stop thrill-ride. Complete government control, cheap-ass rationed foodstuffs, alcohol, and tobacco, sex, interrogations accompanied by torture, betrayal, and, last but not least, telescreens! Rob Schneider stars as Winston Smith, in George Orwell's... 1984. Going straight-to-video and being distributed nationwide at every bankrupt Moviestop store. Rated R."

Sorry! I was bored.

Haha, first of all, I love the Fight Fair reference. My brother is friends with them (he went to college with them) so I always forget that they're a real band. "Brain Freeze" highlights many of the great things to do in SD, but...

YES. COME. Your time will not be wasted. There's so much to do. You have countless beaches that are all great for their own things (relaxing, playing volleyball, jumping off cliffs, surfing, hiking, camping, kayaking, snorkeling etc), you have amazing food (real mexican food and in'n'out, enough said), you have so many attractions (the zoo, animal park, seaworld, aquariums, legoland even), there are great concert venues down here, lots and lots and lots of college kids, lots of really sweet museums, you can go to a Padres game for like, $12 (they'll lose, but it's a blast), and so many places to wander around and explore (downtown San Diego, Pacific Beach, La Jolla [where I'm at!]) even if you're not 21. Right now we have the Del Mar Horse Races going on, that also have great concerts for only $10. And San Diego on Charger Sunday is a beautiful thing. There's so much to do, so much to see. The weather is awesome for about 8-10 months of the year, and you can actually go into the water during summer months and not freeze to death. Plus, watching Anchorman in San Diego makes it that much better. You can even go explore Balboa Park and Coronado Island, where they did a bunch of filming.

How's that for reasons? (In addition to just all around loving San Diego, I'm a tour guide at my school so I talk about all the great things to do here a lot. :])

this. this. this. this. both are amazing though.

and while you're at it, read A Clockwork Orange. you'll be getting the best that the dystopian genre has to offer if you read all three.

To say that BNW is better than We, when Huxley basically just swaggerjacked Zamyatin, what an insult. Not that Orwell didn't either, but his was simply better.

I think it's one of the easiest novels to read. The way it's written is very clear and to the point, in perfect Orwell fashion of course. But as to what it's about, just imagine a boot stamping on a human face.

Forever.
