clearly every back up punter in a pre-season game needs his own thread
Hahaha shit, I knew it was going to be a fake punt and it still fooled me. That was awesome.

how does converting a fake punt in a preseason game set them up for "all kinds of different fake plays" in the regular season?

In the end they screwed themselves because it was THAT good. Now teams will remember it and look out for it.

I disagree. If they are looking for the play they fake the fake punt and pass or run

Except teams now, when the Titans are punting from the 50 and in, will keep a guy back to spy for just that thing. And they'll know not to over commit when they see the reverse set up
Or, perhaps more appropriately, the guy who pulled off the play won't be on the roster, and Craig Hentrich is their punter and he's not a threat to make that play (at the ripe age of 38), so it won't happen for that reason.
It may end up doing nothing, it may make teams more conscious in those situations...it certainly doesn't give them an advantage beyond having a funny story to laugh about for the next few days in camp

I disagree. A team will not set up in a formation to anticipate a fake punt every time the Titans punt.

Regardless if they never set up to anticipate a fake punt, they'll always think about them doing in. The coaches are paid for what they do. They'll remember it too.

No...but in that field position, most teams set up to anticipate a possible fake anyway...if anything they'll be more conscious
What it really does is give 31 special teams coaches a GREAT play to practice for their teams, and potentially use in a game during the regular season. Happens with trick plays all the time

But don't fret, Ill keep you updated. :] I was reading somewhere that some home games might get blacked out because not enough tickets have sold because of the economy. :[ lord, i hope not! but definitely rep that jersey! who do you have? I think it was the way he executed the play. It was impossible to tell if he was gonna punt until the last second. We'll just have to see what happens I guess.

Oh man, Scifres rules me. On our wall last year, my roommate and I cut out all the pictures from the newspaper and one of our favorites was this badass one of Scifres. I love me some Eric Weddle, and Hester reaaaaally stepped it up this past season. AH! Im so excited

Why would they waste something like that in the first preseason game of a season? Wouldn't you want to do something completely unexpected like that when...oh, I don't know, it mattered? A+ for execution of the play itself, F- and a kick in the ass for everything else.
being australian i only know about football from madden. but that was a pretty epic play i would have thought.

People are getting real serious about this play. This game didn't matter, so why not just play around a little. For shits and giggle. Or does a win/loss effect their chances of getting into the playoffs.

Honestly, I think this play would've been fine to post and discuss in the NFL thread above. The play doesn't matter cause its the preseason, but yeah it looked pretty cool when I was flipping between the sox game and the football game. I don't really care that the OP made a thread about it, I was just questionin whether it was important enough to have it's own thread, that's all.

ideally, this play will lead to every team just creaming the punter and taking the penalty to keep this from ever happening again. those froggy motherfuckers are getting too bold.
