I've never been there either... all I know about it is it's the upstairs part of Cafe Du Nord, which is freaking tiny. I'm assuming this place is a little bigger than that based on the picture on the venue website, but I'm not sure. But parking there absolutely sucks since it's so close to Castro.
I'm hoping I can afford to go since I've missed Jack's Mannequin every time they've been through since he played Slim's last November, and I'm not sure I want to go to that Channel104.9 show they're doing. This would be much more fun.

I read that the Swedish American Hall has a capacity of about 330. I just hope that tickets don't sell out too fast.
I was considering about going to that 104.9 show but now that Andrew's coming to SF, I figure there's no point in going to San Jose.

That would actually make sense, since Cafe Du Nord only holds around 150.
I live in Hayward, so I'm halfway between downtown San Jose and downtown San Francisco (which is very convenient sometimes). However, I definitely prefer a small venue to the SJSU Events Center. And I would just rather go to SF than San Jose anyway, bridge toll and all.

I've seen JM play three times this year, all of which were at different sized venues. But this show will definitely be the most intimate show.

I went there once while I was living out there. It's a really nice place, but definitely small and intimate. It does have a bigger floor area than Cafe Du Nord. Basically there are rows of chairs on the floor and then I believe people can stand in the back. There's also a small balcony. This picture gives you a pretty good example of the venue with people in it: http://lh4.ggpht.com/_OeIG-w-fP9k/SarvQXG8SRI/AAAAAAAABf4/VJRpk3q4YEs/s720/crowdswedish.JPG
Should be pretty cool to see Andrew there.
I'll be hitting up the KY date. I'm really excited!

Just to clarify, this tour is just Andrew and his piano. The other JM members will not be on this tour. It's going to be completely different than a regular JM show... very chill, no jumping on the piano, etc (from what I've read/seen from the past 2 solo shows). That's part of the appeal, for me at least. I've seen JM 5x but never Andrew alone so it's going to be weird but awesome at the same time.

I knew the other members wouldn't be on the tour, but otherwise I assumed it to be similar to a JM headliner.
It's gonna be a great show, no matter what though.

Our Lady Peace.
JM opens for Our Lady Peace? I would think, at this point, they'd at least co-headline (or OLP would support JM)? Unless the show was in Canada, then JM opening would make perfect sense.
Throwing it out there:
Jack's Mannequin is opening for Girl Talk.
How popular is Girl Talk? I seriously have no idea.. but he did sell out Terminal 5 for like 5 straight nights?

Also, he should play Mulligan Goes to War or Babies of the 80s... Then he'll know who his real fans are...

it's not a legal issue, but he's probably not going to play songs he didn't write out of respect for Josh. i doubt he has much attachment to a song like Hurricane anyway since he only preformed it. if he's going to get up there and preform as a solo artist, he's probably going to want to stick to material that means something to him.

Bands can cover any song as long as the venue pays fees to the 3 different agencies that collect money for the song composers so I don't see why he couldn't play any of those songs.

First of all, he played Heroine (Punk Rock Priness) last night. The set list is below. Second, he has played Cav Park and MATM on the majority of the previous JM tours, and quite frankly I'm glad he's not playing them this tour. Third, I love to listen to If U C Jordan when I'm angry, but I would not consider it to be one of the best Soco songs by any means. Andrew has said in interviews that he doesn't really like it that much either. And Konstantine isn't even worth addressing.
Imo, the ones he is playing are amazing. I realize that everyone complains about setlists, and I do too, but I'm just happy he's playing SO many Soco songs. Even though this is an Andrew McMahon tour, it is being advertised as "Andrew McMahon from JM," so seeing this many Soco songs is an awesome suprise.

I cannot believe I missed this show. Wow.
does anyone have two extra tickets to the nyc show NEXT monday at bowery? i'm going tonight, but i was supposed to go with my mom who is a HUGE jack's mannequin fan, but she got pneumonia and now she can't go. i feel so bad, she was so excited...it was supposed to be a birthday present because her birthday's in 10 days. so if anyone has two extra tickets they're willing to sell for face value to me, that would be awesome!

I can't remember the setlist for KY, but the show was insane. One notable difference was that he played "21 and Invincible" though. That was awesome.
I bootlegged tonight's performance.
Midway through, though, my battery died. Ruined what would have been perfect a perfect boot. Part 1 is an expensive camera, Part 2 is iPhone.. cuts in the middle of "Walking By".
I'll have my review and the bootleg on my site soon.

I'm so pissed off that I missed tickets to this.
i may have an extra ticket to the boston show (judging by your location, that's where you want to go). would you be interested if it ends up being free? i will know definitely by tomorrow afternoon.

That's awesome, I'd like to see them.
I'm trying to convince my brother to record the show with this expensive professional recorder he recently bought for school. He thinks that security won't allow recording or that they will confiscate it because it looks like a taser. Haha.
I need a ticket to NYC Bowery. Let me know.

Surprised he isn't playing Me and the moon really

couldn't agree more. setlist for 10/12 was almost identical to what's posted a page back, with the only exception being an included cover of bob dylan's "just like a woman." andrew also dedicated "the astronaut" to his mother who was in attendance.

I went to the show last night in Somerville, MA and thought of writing down the setlist but decided against it...anyways, it was something like this, all the songs are right but not in perfect order (feel free to correct me if you were there!)
Hammers and Strings (A Lullaby)
As You Sleep
Dark Blue
Crashin’
Holiday from Real
She Paints Me Blue
Walking By
The Mixed Tape
Kill the Messenger
Rescued
Spinning
Bloodshot
The Resolution
21 and Invincible
Moon River (cover)
La La Lie (West Coast Winter version)
Encore:
Punk Rock Princess (Heroine version)
Swim
Olive (from Bobby Raw's band Bikelock)
The Astronaut
Bruised
My favorites were Walking By (my second favorite song of all time, #1 being Konstantine) and Kill The Messenger. Totally jealous of you guys that got to see Globes and Maps! Wish there had been more SoCo on the set, especially from LTTW, but it's Andrew fucking McMahon. I can't complain :)

THERE, THERE KATIE
Heroine
Olive (Bikelock song)
The Astronaut
Walking By
La La Lie (West Coast Winter)
The show was absolutely incredible. In my opinion, this show had the best setlist of any of the shows thus far, especially bc it was the first time he's played Katie this tour. When he introduced it, my hands started shaking so much that my friend had to record it for me lol. I was really happy that he played KTM, AUYT and The Astronaut, too, since those haven't been played at every show. Andrew was hysterical, and his random stories were so entertaining.
Also, he soundchecked Down during the meet and greet. I'm SO jealous of everyone who got to see it.
I took one-minute videos of every song, as well as a few random things- www.youtube.com/kmc724 (http://www.youtube.com/kmc724). Some of them are still uploading though.

Last night's setlist:
1.Hammers and strings
2.Mixtape
3.Crashing
4.As You Sleep
5.Holiday from Reel
6.Friend of the Devil (Grateful Dead cover)
7.Annie Use Your Telescope
8.Resolution
9.She Paints Me Blue
10.Spinning
11.Dark Blue
12.Walking By
13.21 and Invincible

16.Moon River (cover)

17.Punk Rock Princess

19.Astronaut

that's your opinion. In most other peoples opinion its one of his best and was HUGE hit for him.

It's not worth addressing because Andrew has explicitly said countless times that he will never play that song unless it's WITH Soco. Also, like I've said, this tour is being promoted as "Andrew McMahon from JM." The object of this tour is promote Dear Jack and JM, not Soco.
Also, even though If U C Jordan was a hit, does not automatically make it a good song. Although I wouldn't call it the worst (that would be Drunk Girl imo), it is by FAR not the best.

Ah see i love drunk girl. I guess we'll agree to disagree

i believe andrew himself does not even like the song anymore since it's such a negative song. (talking about if you see jordan) i think its a good song when you're young..but when you're older just seems completely immature. i think that is also some of andrew's feelings towards it too.. i wish i could get some quotes, but don't have time right now.
found a quote..from the chat at ap

I really hope he plays "Down" and/or "Globes and Maps" tonight or on Thursday in lieu of the covers, not that they aren't great, but I'd much rather see rarer Soco material than a cover of the song from Breakfast at Tiffany's.

Cavanaugh Park would've been amazing tonight!! Ah if only... everything sounded absolutely amazing tonight. I really wished that he would record all of his songs like this.
And not to be creepy in any sort of way, but this stirred the fangirl inside of me. As my friend and I were driving from the HOB Anaheim after the show, we were stopped at a stoplight before the freeway, and guess who stopped right next to us? Andrew!!! Haha my friend and I were so confused and we saw him with his wife, so we tried not to be creepy and stare and just drove away. That is all - this was my lame story.
