why do they keep choosing chris badami to produce their albums? i understand he is a good friend being he plays drums for ICMAMLNB, and they did the last album with him. but seriously. from a band with problems sounding monotonous why keep choosing the same producer...expecially for a triple disk effort? if it were up to me i would have used different producers for each disk to create more diversity. not a difficult concept. I just feel like they are really limiting themselves by continuing to use Badami on every effort.

Exactly. His production on "The Room's Too Cold" and "I Can Make A Mess Like Nobodies Business" is flawless. He is a perfect match for this band.

yeahh but i think that's what people are saying, that in terms of actual producing, he still hasn't brought any new ideas to the table.. he clearly can engineer a record, but by working with someone different these guys could be pushed to try something new in terms of arrangement and sound

haha. the username is earlynovemberx and they have an early november avatar yet they go on to bash the early november for being such a monotonous band. i can assure you this cd is alot different than anything you've heard from them before. it can hardly be called monotonous. the cd SHOULD'VE been done this month, but drive-thru has pushed the date back so much that i guess chris could just take is grand old time with it.

i like the early november don't get me wrong. for all of this was one of my favorite albums at one point. i did make this user account in 2002...but that doesnt matter. their sound has not changed AT ALL over the past 4 years or however long. the demos they released before for all of this (ashala rock, all we ever needed, ect) sound exactly like the ones they released for this triple disk. the same progressions. the same arrangements. dont get me wrong. i like it. but if they branch out more than they have in the past (the room's too cold was a very boring album. yes i said it.), then their career potential will be very short lived. take my opinion for what it's worth. i just have not been impressed by anything this band has done in 2 years. not to mention the show in charlotte with saves the day last fall was terrible. they lacked energy/enthusiasm and were not as all excited as they once seemed to be about music.

hope this triple disk can change my mind.

I disagree on all accounts. "The Room's Too Cold" was a big change from "For All Of This" and was a step in the right direction. While you may have found it boring, I feel that it set The Early November apart from all of the other bands that were coming out at about the same time. "The Room's Too Cold" showed that they were capable of writing songs with much more substance than any of their previous material. Sure "For All Of This" is a great EP with some awesome songs, but "The Room's Too Cold" took The Early November to another level.

Not to compare TEN to the Beatles, but I'd be willing to bet that you would find "Abbey Road" boring. Slower songs are not boring to everyone, especially if they are quality.

If you think their sound hasn't changed "AT ALL" over the past four years, you wouldn't know 2 different sounding things if they walloped you square in the testicles. For example, let's say you were blindfolded and someone hit you in the left testicle with a toot on a trombone, and then that same person hit you in the right testicle with a guitar chord, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference.
