No way, FWYK is Midtown's sound now, anything like the past days will be a disappointment, because they just aren't that band anymore.

Whereas the FBR Friends tour hit Charlotte in April last year the first day Silverstein picked up on the tour and Midtown dropped off. Very unfair.

I was supposed to have Midtown but Fall Out Boy postponed the show so I got the Aka's instead, it sucked.

I've never been to Vintage Vinyl but I hope it's big cause I really want to go to this.
vintage vinyl is pretty small. for this they will have to turn kids away and it probably wont be free either they tend to make you buy albums to get in. they have advertised a few in stores as free but once you get there you have to buy the cd or they wont let you in.

the show is on tuesday June 6th to prmote the DVD (released the same day) "Bastards of Young" which features both bands. Thats my prediction atleast. Basically this show is to promte the DVD and Im sure you will have to pre-order the DVD to get in cause thats how Vintage Vinyl does it usually. The DVD looks excellent though, heres the details on it via midtownrocks.com
03/24/06 - Bastards of Young DVD
Hello!!!
Please check out this great DVD documenting the NJ punk / emo / hardcore scene. We've got some live performancences and interviews on it. Check out the Bastards of Young trailer (http://www.artandindustryinc.com/) and you can read below for the official press release on the DVD. Enjoy, this is a good one!

BASTARDS OF YOUNG TWO-DISC DVD SET
CHRONICLING THE RISE OF THE INDIE MUSIC SCENE
OUT JUNE 6 VIA IMAGE ENTERTAINMENT
BASTARDS OF YOUNG, the first-ever definitive DVD documentary and concert film chronicling the rise of the modern punk, emo and hardcore music scene, is set for release June 6 via *Image Entertainment, Inc. The comprehensive concert film and documentary DVD was created/produced by Michelle Caputo and directed by Shannon Hartman of Art and Industry.
The two-disc set runs over three-and-half-hours and includes live performances and backstage footage from artists such as THURSDAY, TAKING BACK SUNDAY, UNDEROATH, FROM AUTUMN TO ASHES, THE STARTING LINE, ARMOR FOR SLEEP, MIDTOWN, THE EARLY NOVEMBER, MATCHBOOK ROMANCE and EMANUEL; plus interviews with JIMMY EAT WORLD, FALL OUT BOY, JULIANA THEORY, THE BEAUTIFUL MISTAKE and SOMETHING CORPORATE.
Unlike the mainstream, chart-topping genres, "modern punk" has managed to become successful today not only for its hooky choruses, emotional, heartfelt lyrics and frenetic live shows, but because it's striking a chord as a lifestyle. The artists featured on BASTARDS OF YOUNG range from those playing basements with no record label to those with platinum status.
Producer Michelle Caputo explains the evolution of BASTARDS OF YOUNG: “We recognized a phenomenon within the culture of this scene. It can be traced back to the early days of hardcore punk wherein there existed a true “DIY” ethos and connection between the musicians and the fans. We saw a real story in that these musicians have maintained a pure and true connection and have utilized today’s resources to allow that outreach to grow exponentially. We’re reflecting the same ethos in the promotion of BASTARDS OF YOUNG.”
Throughout BASTARDS OF YOUNG, the bands and fans at the forefront of the “DIY” independent scene tell the story of how they built a following from basement gigs to arena shows, one fan-and one friend-at a time. The DVD set is the first to ever document a music scene happening today that defies tradition and is making music history; this is the story of the Bastards of Young!

good luck getting within 100 yards of vintage vinyl. i went for when finch played there back in 03 and that shit was sold out quick, with kids in line who didn't have wristbands, and they didn't let people in. they said it was free, but turns out you had to get a bracelet when the doors opened for the store, not what time the show started.

2nd thought: not gonna happen (for most of us).
ditto to whoever said Midtown + Thursday would be armageddon, i saw Midtown at VVinyl just before the release of F-what you know and it was already pretty hazardous
all you out-of-NJ kids, good luck trying to get in after getting lost trying to find the place, and after the kids who have been lurking the store since 9 in the morning, heh.
this would be awesome.

It's cool to see some Midtown news, but it's not like they've been gone for too long. FWYK was released in '04. It's been waaaay too long since I've seen them though. I saw them when Save The World was released but didn't really know who they were or anything.

Haha, well maybe Midtown will wake up and try not to make another record that bombs in sales. Sure, people here liked that album but let's be honest, Columbia pretty much stopped promoting that album after a month when they realized there weren't any other songs on the CD that *could* be promoted as good. Don't get me wrong, the album had it's high points (the Japanese bonus tracks were better than half the songs) but I got into Midtown and Living Well and FWYK was a bit difficult to swallow. I'm crossing my fingers that maybe, just maybe, they'll dabble in the good ole days again on their new stuff....
